Fascism is alive and well in Germany. Click Here (http://www.reuters.com/article/entertainmentNews/idUSL253889920070625?feedType=RSS&rpc=22&sp=true) for the story.

IMO, Tommy boy may be a kook, but he is a talented kook. For the Germans to ban him from movie making on the basis of his religious affiliation, even to a cult, is proof positive Jews are stupid for buying Mercedes Benz automobiles. They're just financing the new ovens.

Germany has done a lot to curtail free speech and public expression by making up hate crimes tailored to keeping people silent about their religious and political views. Over here we have Neo-Nazis who deny the holocaust, and that's a good thing for all of us common sense folk who get to point and laugh at these clowns. Over in Germany, if you deny the holocaust happened, you get thrown in jail.
To put that into perspective, here's an analogy: all of us either know someone or have been on message boards with people who think that 9/11 was a government conspiracy. Imagine these people being put in jail for a year for saying that. They are kooks, but what if after that they throw people in jail for debating JFK's assasination? If you don't tow the government line of the Warren Commision, you go to jail. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone, but who am I to put you in jail for believing something else?

This sounds very controversial to be happening on my birthday. I just had ice cream cake, cheating on my diet.

How Is Scott Over-Reacting? F_S Read That Story Earlier Today And Was Stunned. They Are Prohibiting Someone From A Creative Project BECAUSE OF His Religion! F_S Must Live In Cloud-Cuckoo Land, Because He Thinks This Is Appalling.

And BTW, F_S Has The Singular Misfortune Of Having To Travel To Germany Every 6-8 Weeks, And He Can Assure You That Despite The "Green-Peacenik" Face They Like To Present To The World, That Country Could Change Into Its Brown Shirts At A Moment's Notice. All That Old Crap Is Boiling Just Under The Surface, Ready To Come Spewing Out At Any Time.

It's not as if the military is obligated nor does the film company have the right to the military's assistance. It's not that big a deal.

No it's not, and you are right Hbox. If they had just said "no, because Tom Cruise is a douchebag" I would be fine with that. But this is a GOVERNMENT denying a person the ability to do his job under contract with a third party because of his RELIGION. The Germans have no problem with the movie being made, they just won't allow it to be filmed in Germany if Tom Cruise is the actor. Change actors, filming gets the green light.

Sort of like gays in the military, a subject I have made a change in thought of. Our GOVERNMENT has discharged talented translators who can do their job because of what they do while off-duty.

See, The True Old-Fashioned Libertarian Conservatives Have No Problem With This. You Know What Barry Goldwater Said? "You Don't Have To Be Straight To Shoot Straight"!

Could you just see the uproar if Michael Moore was denied a permit to film in the Bible Belt because he is Catholic?

Or Simcha Jacobovici not allowed to excavate a historical site because he is a Jew?

If only true old-fashioned libertarian conservatives were the ones that are running things these days. It seems like they are an endangered species.

Yeah, I was about 12 when AIDS became a big issue, and of course, Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and the others got all of us Christians in line to condemn the gays and discriminate against them. The line we all fell for about gays in the military was "battlefield transfusions" and catching the HIV because of that.

They forgot to show the hetero lifestyle in the barracks: a veritable orgy that passed the clap and crabs around like tapwater. The "don't ask, don't tell" crowd kept a blind eye on that subject.

She Got Alot Of Flak From The Religious Right, But Sandra Day O'Connor Was Also Cut From The Goldwater Cloth. (Like Barry, She Was Also From AZ).

Us reformed Neo-Cons are coming back around. Sort of like Darth Vader having his soul saved by Luke Skywalker.

"Take off my mask, young libertarian"

"But you'll die"

"Nothing can stop that now....I just want to look upon the Bill of Rights with my own eyes..."
