Well, It's our birthday today, so I was wondering if you guys wanted to give the politics a rest today and play a game.
In honor of our 231rst birthday (You old hag!) why don't you post what your favorite quote is from your favorite rebel. Or American in general if you don't have a fav founding father.
I'll Start:
"Resistance to Tyranny is Obedience to God" T. Jefferson
Happy Birthday everybody. Punch a Tory!
about ten years ago i got arrested for disorderly conduct, and i told the cop this one:
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."
He said that was stupid, and I said it was Thomas Jefferson

"The money powers prey upon the nation in times of peace and conspire against it in times of adversity. It is more despotic than a monarchy, more insolent than autocracy, and more selfish than bureaucracy. It denounces as public enemies, all who question it's methods or throw light upon it's crimes. I have two great enemies, the Southern Army in front of me and the Bankers in the rear. Of the two, the one at my rear is my greatest foe..corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money powers of the country will endeavor to prolong it's reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until the wealth is aggregated in the hands of a few, and the Republic is destroyed. --Abraham Lincoln

inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."

The man who trades freedom for security does not deserve nor will he ever receive either.
or I've also seen it as
He who sacrifices freedom for security deserves neither.

There are dozens of quotes I could put here, but I think it's only fitting to put one of George Washington's -
It should be the highest ambition of every American to extend his views beyond himself, and to bear in mind that his conduct will not only affect himself, his country, and his immediate posterity; but that its influence may be co-extensive with the world, and stamp political happiness or misery on ages yet unborn.
