There's a long thread going on over at the NYRMB that WCBS-FM will be dropping "Jack" soon (within days) and switching back to oldies.

I'm all in favor of this if it's true. I miss that station and never got into "Jack".

why because of ratings?

Ditto! For His Non-XM Nightstand Radio Right Before He Goes To Sleep, F_S Would LOVE To Have The Old WCBS Back!

why because of ratings?

That and billing. CBS-FM billed VERY well.

Jack isn't pulling in a third of what CBS-FM was doing.

Fuck ratings, you want to get something that'll make money, and it was a failure.

With Fresh 1027 showing life, a flip to oldies on CBS is another smart move. I never thought I'd see it happen, but it has.

If K-Rock doesn't survive, you may see Country 92.3.

i agree with country, it is only a matter of time before we get a station in NYC. Rap and Rock have not had a lot of superstars lately, and country seems to have been pumping them out.

If this is true, it's really great news. I loved the original CBS-FM.

The only problem is, a big part of CBS-FM is the personalities. A lot of these people are now locked up in contracts at other stations - Brucie at Sirius, a few are in the suburbs. I wonder what they'll do.

E-Rock, if you read this board, as request - can we hear the old CBS-FM bit from WNEW on Thursday if O&A don't touch on it during the show?

is Cousin Brucie still alive, I think he should be named Great Uncle Brucie based his Age.

I like Oldies once in awhile, anything beats the crap that is on there now

Basically its going to be a format from 1964 to the late 70's with occasional songs from the 50s.

I stumbled across it yesterday when my Ron/Fez MP3 player ran dry. As for personalties, the segment I caught was Broadway Bill Lee who spent many years at WKTU. I think he has the proper energy for the CBS format.

However, I will miss the Jack format. I actually found the music choice pretty good. Especially the Acoustical Sunday Morning show.
