So... Is this American ingenuity, or more proof that our culture is doomed to die?

I also saw that KFC's Popcorn Chicken comes in a container made to fit in a cup holder. The whole idea sickens me.

Here's another one. KFC sells a "laptop" for kids to eat while they're riding in the back of their SUV's... watching Disney movies on the integrated vehicle DVD player.

Wow, It Is AMAZING That You Posted This Tonight! F_S Thought He'd Eat A Little Healthier Than Usual, So He Went To Arby's And Ordered Some New Chicken Pops Or Whatever They Call Them, With Buffalo Sauce And A Small Diet Pepsi.

So Out They Come In A Plastic Cup And The Lady Says: "Watch Out...They're Very Hot!"
They Were Very Good. An Unusually Crispy And Flavorful Coating Around REAL Chicken Breast Meat...Not That Pre-Fab Stuff.

But The Serving In The Cup Surprised F_S Very Much. One Advantage, Though, The Cup Seemed To Keep Them Warmer Than A Cardboard Box Would.

F_S Is A Big Fan Of American Ingenuity And Salesmanship. These Cups Are A Good Thing.

That's about as little as you can get when it comes to eating a "little healthier."

i think as my parents talked i liked reading the happy meal box, i liked solving the puzzles.

mostly i ate healthy though, and had 'dinner conversation' (which i miss)
sometimes i ate fast food, and had to find my own enjoyment; the food was never as good as at home. id rush through it to go play. suv must spell hell for kids

A friend recommended the book "Fast Food Nation" by Eric Scholsser to me. Also the movie. I've yet to check either out. My friend was a fast-food junkie, but after reading the book he swore off red meat, pork, and he rarely eats chicken anymore.

and the lap-top thing, if you have a problem with that, you should have had a problem with the original happy meal. it's nothing different.

my cousin too, but anytime you're seeing animals slaughtered or whatever they have there, that will happen. like the thread they had here about killing your own meat. as a people, we're too genteel here for such things, on average.

My problem is how they are now specifically marketed toward eating in your car. The original Happy Meal wasn't really marketed that way. Eating in the car (be it laptops, happy meals, or food that fits in cup holders) is just bad.

Don't get me wrong. I do it myself. But marketing food for "in car consumption" is just bad on SO many levels.

if it's between meal snackin' i can see it, but if you're on-the-go and don't have time to sit down in a more traditional setting, what's the harm. so long as the kid doesn't get sweet and sour sauce on my seats.

The problem is, this is how more and more people eat the MAJORITY of their meals.

eh, if i'm not cooking and we go to a mcdonald's or such, we'll eat in the car. it beats eating in the store or bringing the food home to get cold, imo.

I know people love to beat up the fast food industry, but being in the food biz I marvel at their prices and services and overall value. Where else can you go, sit down in a nice place and order a bacon cheeseburger for 99 cents and have it come in nice looking packaging and be consistent in quality. You can even send your kid to the playground to expend some energy afterwards.

Go to some of the local restaurants around the country and you'll realize why McDonalds and Wendys are so big. Many have one or two dishes that are really good, some not even that. Others look like they haven't been cleaned in years, service is slow and even a small cheeseburger will cost you double what you pay at the fast food joints. But I know, McDonalds is screwing the public somehow, some way. People are forced against their will to eat there, and "Fast Food Nation" is great film making.

It so easy to nit pick, but if you were in the business you would have great respect for what they do and how well they do it. High end restaurants copy their techniques left and right. Chefs from fancy restaurants eat there all the time. There's a reason why they're all over the place, they're GREAT at what they do.

There's no arguing with their business practices and marketing techniques; they are they best. As I posted earlier I have yet to read "Fast Food Nation" or see the movie, so I don't know what I am in for. I think the point my friend was trying to make was "you shouldn't eat that shit." I have yet to be converted.

This is American know-how and marketing pure and simple. We the people need to remember these corporations do not have our best interest in mind. They are in it to make money.

This may be somewhat morbid, but I can only hope it will be something much more evil than McD, BK, or KFC that will be the death of America.

oh yeah 6'1", 235
