View Full Version : Do you swear in public?

At home, or at work every other word out of my mouth is shit, fuck, cunt, but in public with people I don't know I'm always polite for some reason. I hear other people either in line at a grocery store, or the gas station, freely saying fuck this or fuck that, when all I can do is think it.

I only swear when I'm pretty sure no one will be offended (unless I'm really FUCKING pissed off). I even monitor the volume on the car stereo at stop lights or areas with kids (because I'm usually listening to XM).
One on one... I fucking take it "case by case".
PS... Sextravaganza makes life difficult, but I'm willing to deal with it.

I usually do, but if small kids are near I try to hold back. Which is odd, since I hate kids.

Yeah, I happened to be going through a toll booth with a certain minority worker was the attendant, show had a "white people are so afraid of black people" moment. little uncomfortable.

It's weird, around my folks I don't curse. To me it's more of a sign of respect to them. I'll say shit at best, but maybe once or twice I've said fuck in front of them. At work, especially around guys pretty much anything flies. Only around certain women in the office do I feel somewhat comfortable doing it. The odd thing is, when I don't curse for a while and then I do I curse like a mad man like "So I fuckin sent him the fucking thing he asked for and he fucking gets it, he fucking calls me and fuckin says "what is this?"...I mean what the fuck!!" I tend do that until I become aware that now I'm cursing WAY too much.

I always swear in front of my mom, but never my dad. They both always swore in front of me, and neither was very strict, I can't figure it out.

Ditto for me... I swear a LOT less now than when I was a young buck. I like to think of myself as pretty easy going with other people swearing and it not bothering me but I used to have a boss at work that let "GD" fly in every other sentence and I was kind of surprised in myself that I found I was getting kind of offended by it. Could be I am just getting to be an old fart though.

I don't swear in public unless it would at a party type atmosphere with potty mouth people like me. I don't swear around any of my family because the are all very religious.
So, fuck no!

I always wondered why sailors got a free pass on "cursing like a sailor", could it be the all the salt air and seasickness?

I don't swear in front of my family, in front of children, or when I'm out in public. If I do, it's very quiet and under my breath. When I'm in a situation with people I'm comfortable around, every other word out of my mouth is "fuck".

My GF said that she never met anyone that swears as much as I do.
I swear all the time. At home, in public, at work.......it doesn't matter.
I was once kicked out of a place for swearing too much.
I told the guy to go fuck himself and never went back again.

Cussing is really not as big a deal as some people make it out to be.

Swearing is part of my vocabulary. Not always appropriately either. Im involved with high school aged baseball and foul language is the currency of trade in a dugout.

I do, and it drives my wife crazy. Its funny though because usually it makes her swear back at me. My problem is trying not to swear at people when I'm at work.

I work in education.... so I'm attentive to most anything I do in public, particularly swearing.
I'll even get the douche-chills when I hear someone swearing at a completely inappropiate instance in public (i.e. when there are many small children around).
It's a fact of life and most of us do it on a daily basis, but I try to tone it down more and more.

This guy I knew worked with my father at a factory for years. He got laid off, and got a job working with me in a warehouse. First time he heard me swearing, he was shocked, said they weren't even allowed to swear at the job he came from. Surprising, since I don't think a factory job is really a step up from a warehouse job, neither one deals with the public.

Nope, not at work, with the family or in front of my mother. I was at the airport last week when this guy took a call on his cell phone and proceeded to utter every word of profanity I've ever heard in a loud voice so that everyone could hear him. To me there was no need for that. Of course, I didn't have the balls to say anything to him since he was rather pissed at whoever he was talking to.

I try not to, but when I'm out with a group of friends, I notice that I tend to let a few words slip out here or there. All bets are off when we're out drinking.
