I'm just catching up on the last two shows and was fascinated (as usual) by the riffing on Fez's premise asking how many strangers would you permit to be killed to save your own life. (Thursday's show.) Again, as usual, I thought Ron's moral reflexes were right on target and that Fez needs to get out of his own head and actually interact with people so he can develop some empathy for his fellow species members. But then I wondered if the premise was a bit too easy and then started pondering for ways to push it out a little further.
Let's call this variation the "Judas gospel" scenario. Start with Fez's premise - you're given the choice of being killed yourself or having one (or more) strangers killed in your stead. But now, if you choose to sacrifice yourself, false evidence gets presented into your universe of family, friends and acquaintences that you were a bad person, say a kid toucher, so that becomes your legacy. So you've done the right thing (IMO); if there is an afterlife you get the credit there; but your friends and loved ones in this life not only don't know that you did something noble but think you were a creep or worse.
So which is more important - doing the right thing or being recognized for doing the right thing?
Please run that through your skull noodle and then opine.
