View Full Version : When are you too old?

I was walking down the street yesterday morning about 8 am and I saw a 30ish woman (could have been a bit older or younger) but she was wearing a 2007 Justin Timberlake concert t shirt. I was shocked, but it made me ponder:

When are you too old to wear a concert T in public?
Does it depend on the band?
Does it depend on age?
Is it a combo?
Is it ok if you are on your way to or from a show no matter how old you are?

My mother always told me that your only as old as you feel.

When I was 14, people thought she was my sister. She looked and acted younger than her age.

so....its ok to do act however you feel, IMO.

I still have an Allman Brothers Band and Wilco t-shirt that I'll still wear.

But they are not the type with tour dates on the back. Just shirts with the band's name on it. Which I don't think is a problem as a knock-around shirt.

I wouldn't wear them to a party.

Wearing them to a concert isn't a big deal either - although I won't be "that guy", it doesn't bother me when I do see those guys.

Wearing a Justin Timberlake shirt is just unexcusable though.

I wear Pearl Jam concert shirts all the time.
I don't think I'll ever stop.

They compliment the Pearl Jam Tattoo.

I think 36 is the cutoff for wearing a concert tee or any tee shirt that has the picture of another mans face on it. Anyone older thats wearing one these is either a hayseed, a dirty hippie, or a nascar fan which by default makes them a hayseed.

I'm curious how you came up with the number 36.
Why not 35 or 37?

Actually I didn't even realize there was a cutoff age for wearing a fucking T-Shirt.

I had to ask someone younger than me what EMO is. I still don't know what it is. What are they ravers, goth, or pop fans, I don't get it. I can only guess it's pop music combined with one of the other two.

As kid whether you liked some kinda music or not you could always look at someone else and size up what type of music they listened to.

I know everyone thinks he's gay, and so did I for a long time. But we should really rethink the whole Justin Timberlake thing. His last album was very good, Sexyback is a killer song and he's dating Jessica Biel.

Whats next, no more team shirts, radio show shirts, and name brand clothes. If you feel good wearing it, fuck everyone else. And as for Timberlake, if he would stick with the jazzy/bluesy r&b he isn't that bad.

A middle aged women with a big ole beer gut was walking around Target in a tight t-shirt that read "BOMBSHELL" in rhinestones.

You just made me laugh out loud at the NYS Insurance Dept...and there is no fun here so I got a bunch of wierd looks.

I think you should wear what you want as long as it is appropriate. in my mind a JT t shirt looks good on a 20 and younger girl not anyone who has a job and works to support themselves.

id say it depends on your job and normal work attire restrictions

i mean if you're a construction worker who's 45-50 range no one would say that he looks weird wearing a concert t shirt

but a guy who's normally a shirt and tie business man same age might look out of place

Concert tshirts you can wear at any age....it's the denim jackets with your band's logo sewn on the back that makes you a weirdo past 18 years of age.

I don't see any problem wearing that shirt if you're just doing work around the house. I really don't see a problemw earing it anywhere, but it does give you that feeling in your stomach where you feel bad for the person.
