Snoogans, I know you're all excited and all, but please check your facts.
so you are gonna say now the giants didnt play most of the games in NY? When they played at Yankee Stadium or the Polo Grounds? Those are facts

Snoogans, I know you're all excited and all, but please check your facts. I mean they represent Mahwah too. So why doesn't Mahwah throw them a parade?

As much as I loved Tiki during his playing days, I love thinking about how he must be torn apart by this victory. Especially after Eli stepped up, exactly opposite of what Tiki would have made you believe Eli was capable of.

Time to rename The Ewing Theory (http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/print?id=1193711).

The team offices are in midtown, and if they arent now, its only been the last year or 2. The team has also played more games in NY then it has in NJ as a franchise. They have only been playing in jersey since the late 70's and they have been a team since 1925. They arent a NJ Team. They are a team for the NY market, that includes NJ and some of Ct. And the Giants played in Ct too at one point. How does that taste.

Snoogans my friend, the Giants offices haven't been in midtown in years! The NFL offices are there which is what may be confusing you. I don't care where they played. Fact is they are a New Jersey based company that pays no NYC tax but are now asking the NYC taxpayers to pick up the cost of their parade.

NO THEY ARENT

THEY DIDNT ASK NEW YORK TO DO ANYTHING. NY OFFERS THE PARADE. NY OFFERED A PARADE TO RUTGERS IF THEY WENT UNDEFEATED. Balme your city, not the Giants. Jesus maybe look at the fact that also, in a shitty economy, this is gonna help some of your under paid city cops and others earn a few extra bucks to help the family. Stop crying

Did I ever blame the Giants? You're the one who assumed I did. My comment was why is NYC paying for a parade for them. My question was aimed at the powers that be in NYC, not the Giants. You took the ball and ran with it.

My bad on the wording of the post. I didn't mean to blame the Giants for taking a parade from NYC, I blame NYC for offering to put one on for them and then telling me they have no money to fix the park near my house for my kids to play in when I do pay NYC tax.

"Seriously, what else do you need to know about this game beyond that play and the 30-second loop of Brady getting pounded by various defensive linemen? The Giants played well enough to win, they were tougher, they were luckier and they wanted it just a little bit more. Now we live in a world where Tom Coughlin outcoached Bill Belichick in a Super Bowl, where Eli Manning outplayed Tom Brady in a Super Bowl, where a Belichick Era Patriots team lost a Super Bowl because they weren't tough enough, where the Ewing Theory has been replaced by the Tiki Theory. The Giants deserved to win. They were better. They peaked at the right time. And watching their fans celebrate afterward, a small part of me actually felt happy for them. Envious, even. It's one thing to win a championship ... it's another to win a championship like that. You can't possibly understand unless it happens to you."

"Finally, can you guess the last thing we heard as we were walking (OK, hustling) out of the stadium right after the final play? That's right, it was the sound of euphoric Giants fans chanting, "Eighteen and one! Eighteen and one! Eighteen and one!" Yes, it's safe to say the Boston-New York rivalry has been taken to new heights. As a tennis umpire would say, "Advantage, New York."

Eighteen and one! Eighteen and one! Eighteen and one!

I can still hear them. I will always hear them."

The funny thing is that I kept telling my friends who are Giants fans (and who kept having doubts about possibly winning this game) is that this Giants team reminded me a lot of the 2004 Sox because they just seemed to be riding that same kind of momentum and were winning in dramatic fashion.

Tiki was a good Giant. Too bad he couldn't keep his laundry in house before and after he left.

Well said!

I always said that the Giants would never make the Super Bowl with Eli as the QB.
I have never been so happy to be proven wrong in my life.
What a great victory for Big Blue. I can't wait to attend the opening home game.

And if you cock an ear...you can hear the collective groan from all the people in Boston going "NY....again it's NY...that fucking city!!"

Gee that's weird. I always thought Giants Stadium was in New Jersey. Though they do hold their camp in Albany. And numnuts, the Giants offices are in the Meadowlands, not New York. The Jets offices are in Hempstead.

As a Patriots I must tip my cap to the Giants.

The better team on that day won the game. The defense really took it to Brady & Co.

Enjoy and bask in the glow of one of the greatest upset in Super Bowl history.

You guys deserve it.

All the drunks I saw on the train this morning screaming "Don't go to work, go to the parade!" really didn't help any image control of out of work giant fans. Enjoy your day pal! Cause tomorrow you go back to being a loser.

But make no mistake, Brady gets his own dickipedia page.

Tom Edward Patrick Brady, Jr. (born August 3, 1977) is a football player, future Hall of Famer, insufferable golden boy, and a dick. (http://dickipedia.org/dick.php?title=Tom_Brady)

Personal life
Having dated the aforementioned Tara Reid, Tom Brady spent two years with C-grade actress/A-grade hottie Bridget Moynahan, a relationship that ended in December 2006 right after she informed him that he’d knocked her up. Almost immediately after that, Brady began dating Gisele Bundchen, the world’s richest supermodel and an outspoken proponent of condom use. Unlike pretty much every NFL defensive scheme, you better believe Gisele plans to intercept every single one of Brady’s passes into the red zone.

As a nascent pop-cultural icon, Brady was named one of People magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful Dicks in 2002.

He also appeared as himself on the Simpsons, although it was crappy late-era Simpsons, not pithy, intelligent, seasons 2-8 Simpsons. Brady also appeared as himself on an episode of Family Guy, which was never good.

[edit]Super Bowl XLII
On February 3, 2008, Tom Brady brought his team, with their perfect 18-0 record, to the Super bowl where he promptly choked and was beaten by a banged-up team of young players led by a guy who is not even the best quarterback in his immediate family.

I just pissed myself laughing at those two paragraphs!

My son and I got to the parade area at about 10:00 am. I realize now that this was wayyyyy too late. We came up out of the WTC PATH Station and hit a wall of people. It was madness. People were spilling over from the sidewalks and walking down the middle of Church Street while cars, trucks and buses tried to dodge us. By that time the cops had all of the side streets blocked off and weren't letting anyone through.

When I realized that we weren't going to get any closer to Broadway than Church we decided to bug out of there. We headed back to the PATH and went to my parent's house. We made it there by 11:30 am and watched it on TV. I'd say that for all the people lining the parade route, there were more than half as many who couldn't get near enough.

Thankfully, we did make it to the stadium rally later. My wife was already mad at me for taking my son out of school today. She'd have been really pissed if it was all for nothing.

I think he earned it.
And this was a smart move. Maybe at the end of those 3 years he will earn his coaching stripes.
In the meantime I am happy as shit to keep him around as our D-coordinator.

Next year looks really good.

Hello everyone, I know many of you have heard about my story so far but for those of you that haven't......Take the time to read below (it's long but worth it) and look at the pictures and watch the videos. I had the best day of my life yesterday and it is one of the funniest stories you will ever hear.

So I got home from Arizona late Monday night after seeing the Giants win an amazing Super Bowl. I had an unbelievable weekend and I didn't think it could ever be topped....until yesterday.

Around 11:30 yesterday morning I decided to go and checkout the Giants ticker-tape parade. I figured I would just go for an hour or so and then head back home to get some work done. Little did I know it would turn into an 8 hour affair.

I received a pass to get onto the City Hall grounds (Thanks Mr. Karafiol) which got me relatively near the action. Once I realized that my designated section was actually pretty far away from the stage, I decided to move a little closer. I then snuck into the press section directly in front of the stage. I was sporting my Eli Manning Super Bowl jersey with a Giants hat and around my neck I had my lanyard and ticket stub from the Super Bowl. That is what saved me all day. The lanyard looked very "professional" so I was able to sneak into the press area.

Once the ceremony was over and the Giants started to move off of the stage, I creeped up to the stage. I then looked behind me and John Mara was there with his wife (the majority owner of the team). I then kind of blended in with his family as they were walking out and next thing I knew I got through the first security checkpoint. There were three more security checkpoints and with each one I got more and more nervous. I simply just walked aside Mr. Mara and his family (which was about 20 people deep) so it wasn't hard for me to blend in really. Next thing I know, they are guiding us to the other side of City Hall where there are four luxury buses waiting. I just kept walking along and next thing I know I had two of the four buses to choose from. I wanted to find the players bus but I didn't want to press my luck so I stayed with what worked. I just kept following Mr. Mara. I actually got on the bus directly in between him and his wife. I then sat down on the bus and just kept my head down. I didn't make eye contact with anyone or speak to anyone, I was so nervous. Sitting next to me was David Tyree's mother (he was two rows back with his son) and one row in front of me to my right was John Mara and his daughter (who happens to be gorgeous)

As we are pulling away from City Hall, the streets are lined with Giants fans cheering for "us" and we had a police escort the entire way to Giants Stadium. That's where things got interesting. We got off the bus and were escorted directly into the Stadium tunnel. This is where I thought I was going to get caught. I had no idea what to do next. All of the players went in the locker room and all the Mara's said they were going up to the owner's box for the ceremony. I had to make a decision. I then saw David Tyree walking in with his little son and decided I would act like I was with them. I walked right behind him and got right into the locker room. So now the real fun starts. I'm hanging out as if I'm a player while all the guys in the locker room are just getting each other's autographs on the game balls and on their jerseys. This was my time to shine. I walked around and took some pictures of some of the lockers and then I got to Eli's. I asked Eli if he could sign my ticket stub from the Super Bowl, which he did. I then asked him to sign my Super Bowl jersey, which he did. I was then ecstatic and didn't know what to do. I even had people coming up to me asking me for my autograph. They must have thought I was Lawrence Tynes (the kicker) or something.

I stopped getting autographs at that point other than Brandon Jacobs signing my hat. By then all of the players were being called onto the field for the ceremony. So I figured...why not go with them. I walked right out into the tunnel with them and as they announced the players coming out, I just stood there shaking, thinking I was bound to get caught. I look to my left and Tom Coughlin is literally about 6 inches from me holding the Lombardi trophy (see great picture). Then I just went for it....I walked out there like I was on the team. I came out and there were probably 20-30,000 fans at the stadium all screaming and going crazy. I tried to take as much video as I could but I was so nervous/scared/excited at the same time. My favorite picture of the whole event can be found at www.nj.com/giants/ where I am directly behind Tom Coughlin running around the field. I watched the whole ceremony from literally right in front of the stage.

After the ceremony, I had to try to sneak back in to the locker room. I then saw a couple people of the Mara family (there were so many of them) that must not have gone up to the luxury box and once again I just acted like I was a family member. Next thing I know, I make it through two more security checkpoints and I'm right back in the locker room. This is where it was awesome. All the players were just dancing around and having a good time. Many of them were cleaning out their lockers and throwing things away. This is where I took all the pictures with the players. I could care less if I got caught at this point. I was just a lucky Giant fan that happened to sneak his way into the press section, then on to the owners bus, onto the field and into the locker room, all while going unnoticed. I then walked around the locker room and got every single player to sign my hat and I even got Gibril Wilson's game sweatshirt from him that he signed for me.

So I walked away with an Eli Manning signed Super Bowl ticket, an Eli signed Super Bowl jersey, a hat signed by the whole team, my City Hall access pass signed by Strahan (which is going to Mr. Karafiol as a thank you) and Gibril Wilson's signed game sweatshirt.

All more importantly I walked away with the great memories of the entire weekend and I was lucky enough to live them first hand. Thank god I have the pictures to prove it because I knew none of you would ever believe me.

I had an angel looking down on me yesterday making sure I had an unbelievable day and I know that angel was my sister Jaime. I can just picture her now...........smiling from ear to ear and being so happy for me.

Enjoy the pics.

Giants want Falcons corner
Posted: Friday February 22, 2008 05:33AM ET

With their top two free-agent targets wearing pricey franchise tags, the Giants are trying another route toward getting a top cornerback: A trade with the Falcons for two-time Pro Bowl cornerback DeAngelo Hall. According to two people with knowledge of discussions between the teams, the Giants are willing to give Atlanta their first-round pick (31st overall) in April's draft in exchange for Hall. The people requested anonymity because of the private nature of the trade talks. The Giants had hoped to make a run at the Seahawks' Marcus Trufant and the Raiders' Nnamdi Asomugha, according to one of the people familiar with the team's off-season plans, but each was made the franchise players by their respective teams.

I would LOVE To see a CB like Hall with that Dline. That would be such a shut down D. With him and the two Kids, that would be great.

Lance Briggs or Michael Boley would be nice

Was checking the free agent list on espn, they have them all graded. Decided to see what they had to say about the lowest graded free agent available.

Mathis was a three-year veteran who was released after the fourth week of 2007. He caught one pass in three games and none in two games in 2006 while catching five in 12 games in 2005. He is an undersized wide receiver that lacks deep speed and the ability to stretch the secondary vertically. He is quicker than he is fast and does not show much of a burst as he comes out of his breaks to separate from defenders. He is not strong or aggressive to the ball in a crowd and struggles to catch the ball outside of his frame. He often tries to trap the ball in his body rather than reach out and pluck it. He does not have much run after the catch skills and is not real elusive in the open field. He is not a strong runner nor does he block with much strength. There are not many qualities that he can offer that would warrant a position on any NFL team.

Ouch

Every team in the league would like 2 shut down corners. Most teams dont even have one. Shut down corner gets thrown around these days so easily. Cromartie is one. Bailey is one. Its pretty debatable beyond that. Even the really good guys make alot of mistakes now.

And can we slow down a little bit on calling Dominique Rogers a shut down corner just cause his brother is sick. He hasnt played 1 fuckin game in the NFL yet.

Yeah, but if Strahan stays, that keeps Osi, Strahan, and Kiwi all on the field at the same time, never really got to see his potential at LB. They even throw Tuck in there at DL from time to time. I'm sure Kiwi will go back to DE if Strahan leaves. I'm interested to see how the two rookie LB's will play.

I dont think they will ever move Kiwi back because of Tuck. yea he is great at tackle, but he is an end, and it's his job when Strahan leaves. I dont even think Kiwi will be that bad at LB, esp if he keeps his speed after the leg thing. It's just that, if possible, I'd always go with guys at the position that got them to the NFL.

That being said, moving to LB has worked pretty well for Suggs, so hopefully we have kind of the same situation. Basically I'm going into this year worrying about the same thing as last year, LBs and DBs. I love Phillips but Sammy Knight didnt exactly knock me off my feet and we lost our best DB

They obviously look for versatility in their defensive players, and I think it works well. Wynn can play DE and DT. One play one guy is playing this position, then another, then another guy steps up, or moves back. Has to throw the opposing team a little off guard. Probably had something to do with the reasoning they chose the 2 LB's they did in the draft, they're both supposed to be real intelligent as well.

Yea I think that has to do with Spags and the D he likes to play. Give him all the credit in the world, he knew how to use his guys to get way more out of them than anyone expected

edit: and those LBs are smart, but also white. Hope they never have to play in man coverage

I always thought you could keep rooting for the same team youve always loved,
but Kevin says differently. He says if you utter one word of respect for your team after they win, youre an obnoxious a-hole, and that its offensive to teams like the Cowboys who always used to win.

The guy that scored a 6 on his rookie intelligence test had a great first day.

Rookie WR Mario Manningham once mistakenly went in with the offense even though there were already 11 men on the field. Later, he lined up in the wrong spot.

Ahmad Bradshaw sent to jail.

30 days for some shit that happened as a juvenile, before he was drafted. Sucks for him, sounded like he was getting his shit straight.

They said they were already aware of his situation, it was from something that happened before he was even drafted.

No link yet, but I just got a text from a buddy who's usally spot-on with this stuff, and it said that the long rumored trade of Jeremy Shockey to the Saints has finally been made a reality.

No sign of it on ESPN.com, NFL.com, or either the Giants or Saints official sites...so take it with a grain of salt for now.

Link to follow...

**edit: Just showed up on ESPN.com (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3498795) & it was part of the last 20/20 on WFAN.

Damnit, I'm pissed it had to come to this.

he played most of the year but you cant deny how much better the offense was without shockey in the lineup

you could see that manning was able to look around and distribute the ball more when shockey was gone , was that b/c he was gone ?? or b/c he finally realized he needed to

either way after fassell left jeremy wasnt used as much as the pass catching tight end he is , coughlin used him more as a blocking tight end who catches occasionally

this is where boss will be able to excel

saints get shockey
dolphins get a shitload of draft picks

the offense was much more fluid without Shockey in the lineup. don't get me wrong, I always lvoed shockey, but he was always yapping in Eli's ear. There were stories of how they had to start of offensive meetings of how to get shockey the ball or else he'd start up. This is now Eli's team. the big mouths are gone (tiki, Shockey, Strahan.. although we will miss Mike). Do i think Boss will be as good as Shockey? Probably not. But now Eli wil not have to force throws to make Shock happy. He can go out there and do his thing.

I had Shockey as well. I hate buying any jerseys nowadays, cuz everyone fucking leaves. You could go old school, or I think Toomer would be a safe bet to stay with the Giants for his career. I have 2 jerseys with my last name on them as well. I also have a Tiki Barber jersey, which would be cool, since he retired a Giant, but then he left on such poor conditions, I can't wear that either.

I got so many jerseys that if I'm going to get another one for the Giants I'm going to get one with my name so I don't have to worry about the player being on the team or not.

I used to wear my jerseys to work since I go into the community/field alot but with the gang influence growing over the years in NJ I seldom wear them. I remember one time I was wearing the wrong colors into a neighborhood that I had to roll up my sleeves so it wouldn't show. Always pre-caution on the safe side I say.

The Giants completed their 53-man roster on Saturday but that hardly means the roster is finalized. They are in contract talks with defensive end Jerome McDougle, who was cut by the Eagles.

McDougle arrived in New Jersey Saturday night and met with Giants coaches this morning. Despite leading the team with 21/2 sacks in the preseason, McDougle didn’t make it out of the last round of cuts with the Eagles, even though during training camp Andy Reid said "he looks strong and fast and quick.''

McDougle, 29, has been a bust ever since the Eagles moved up 15 spots in the first round of the 2003 NFL Draft to scoop him up. He's been hurt far more than he's been healthy and in 33 games has a mere three sacks. The problems far outshine the plays on the field. He's had injuries to his knees and ankle, an irregular heartbeat, fractured ribs. In 2005, he was shot in the stomach during a robbery in Miami and missed the entire season. He sat out all of last season with a triceps tear.

Reputed to be a pass-rushing end at 6-2 and 264 pounds, McDougle was with the Eagles when Steve Spagnuolo was in Philly as the linebackers coach and there's no doubt that connection had plenty to do with McDougle's arrival with the Giants

I would like nothing better than a formal Eagle to come in and be a big part in helping our D

we'll im guessing we only signed him for depth since the osi injury so he wont be on the field much so hopefully he can be decent and not get hurt when he is

sorry to burst your bubble but the giants drafted shockey in the 1st round of 2002

and it was 2003 nfl draft where the giants took joseph with the 25th pick and the eagles jumped up to take mcdougle

Wasn't Shockey trying to convince the Giants in getting McDougle in that draft?

I predict Tuck to lead the league in sacks. I think he will actually turn out to be better than Osi.

i think he was

tuck will be good... as for better than osi nah i dont think so

and at least not this year with no osi on the other side, he'll be double teamed until either kiwi or mcdougal step up

overshadowed by Favererererereeee, The Gee Men come into the 2008 season with a weaker defense but a solid offense. The Favereere situation made training camp a breeze and now it is time for the Giants to start their 2008 season

A win at home wold be a nice start, this NFC east is gonna be the hardest in Football

the Giants may need a NFC East Conf. tie breaker to secure a playoff spot

it is good that Burress is paid off and can now play without a chip on his shoulder

Redskins win by 10, oh yes, the Anti Jinx is back

Old Man Carney hitting chip shots wont win games

Edit: But 0 yards receiving and only 24 yards given up Rushing and 16 yard total given up by a defense does win games
