That's a really good question. Of course Angelina is really hot right now (and has been for a few years), but Jon Voight has had a particularly long career with some very punctuating performances.

I think it depends upon perception - If you see a star as someone with acting chops, I think you have to give it to Voight. However, if you are looking at a star as garnering massive public appeal, then Jolie surpasses her father. It's hard to find someone more physically attractive or adored by the media than Angelina Jolie.

My question surrounds whether we can really call this nepotism. The word carries a negative pall, I would say. Were these familial successors unfairly helped into the bus'? Perhaps. I suspect, however, that it's more akin (a-hema) to what others suggested below. That is, how many lawyers beget lawyers? Politicians - politicians. Architects ....

My point is, could it not simply be that the kids of industry folks know the business better than anything else because they're raised in a Hollyhome? Do they not know better what it takes to excel--ie, training, self-promotion, dues-payment, etc.--in entertainment.

Despite all this, I undertstand that without having the famous father, they would very likely never get an "in." Maybe, though, that 'in" isn't worth as much value as nepotism would imply.

Francis Ford Coppola is a loving nuturing father by all accounts. He put Sophia in Godfather 3 and she was ripped apart.
Years later when her intelligence and sophistication matured, that was forgiven. But much of Sophia's talent bears directly on her access and close proximity to the world her father and other famous realitives inhabited. She livede in a different world than 99%of the rest of us.

Carrie Fischer is another example. She's Princess Laia because she was Hollywood royalty and that kind of snippy superiority came naturally to her. Then she wrote tons of bestsellers about life on the inside.
Her mother is Debbie Reynolds and her father is Eddie Fischer. Let's not mention a string of step moms and dads (like Elizabeth Taylor and Connie Stevens)
Joely Fisher is one of her successful siblings.
Does wacky things like marry Paul Simon for a year then divorce him then date him for another 8 years.
