That would be my buddy and fellow Vermonter James Kochalka Superstar from the album of the same name. He's more famous as a cartoonist and has a whole Monkey Vs. Robot graphic novel series. You can also find the track on his greatest hits package, "Our Most Beloved." I highly recomend it.

Find out more at http://www.americanelf.com

ROCK!

Thank you for posting those Moochcassidy.

I found the Nick Cave tunes today ok (well, imo, not the opener), but that MonkeyVsRobot is hilarious and even cooler.

James Kochalka is a truly remarkable American artist. He is an excellent cartoonist & his band, James Kochalka Superstar is simultaneously rawkin' & funny & truly visionary!!! Kochalka has committed himself to doing a comic a day since October 1998. Each day's comic is viewable @ his website AMERICANELF.COM

He has also published these collected comix in various books & magazines & most notably, in a large book also called American Elf which represents approximately the first 5 years of his sketch diaries!!! I adore this guy's work!!!

In that video, I love when the robot and monkey are riding side by side on those mechanical horses, and people are walking by looking at them with the ultimate "What the fuck?" face on.

I like "Hockey Monkey" which I've heard R&F play back in the JFK days (also by James Kochalka):

Had no idea there were any fans to be found here. I stopped breathing when I heard Ron say M vs R. I was like, no way! Same thing happened when I watched that shitty The Loop show which used Hockey Monkey as its intro music. As soon as it became apparent that the M vs R moment was over (and none of it made LOTD?!), I immediately made a phone call to the person who turned me on to Kochalka. After that, the person I called e-mailed prolly ten ppl about it. I've been wanting to send his stuff in for a while cuz I felt it fit the show so well. Which songs have you already given them (too many to list?)?

in a world full of so much musical shit it's nice to be exposed to something a little different
and anyone that doesn't take themselves to seriously is always a plus
