my wife and i have finally made it over the hump...
those of you with kids know what im talking about.
we were zombies for the first 3-4 months of our sons life, especially my wife.
she never slept more than 2 hours at a time 24/7.
then there was the teething hell (which luckily, only bothered him maybe 2 nights, top).
crawling, then walking (and falling).
this new form of independence also fueled his insatiable curiosity, which also caused his very short attention span.
oh shit- now its terrible 2's.
but, over the past 3 weeks or so, we think we have cracked the terrible 2's.
he's been nothing but good, and obiedient (for lack of better term).
its like he gets it now.
i know its only a matter of time before the next phase starts...
but im going to savor this while i can
sorry... just had to yell and praise from the highest of highs.
this is a good vent. a proud vent.

You're right about the next phases (they are endless) but each phase brings one more awesome side of your child out. Sometimes it's tough to see it at the time but each new thing , no matter how small, can just be incredible.
My favorite phase with both of my girls is when they start asking a million questions. You really get to see how their minds work and I was always amazed at how the view things. A little sappy but my kids are at their grandparents for the past week and I miss them like hell!

It's bittersweet, budday. Sometimes it's sad that the cute baby phase is gone, but the newfound peace and quiet is wonderful. my son is 5 already, but my daughter turns 1 next week. I still have a round to go.
Congrats!

I am just the opposite of Nick, it's the reason I want to have kids.
People at work tell me their horror stories of their kids and I just sit back and think about how one day that will be me and I cannot wait.
