Yes, I listen.
Yes, I ignore you, but only you. I listen to everyone else.
I know the side banners were a problem, and they were fixed for a while, when we had it set to manually approve ads. Unfortunately, after a while, the ads I was approving weren't showing and the side banner was not making enough money to run the site. I set it back to automatic approval and the iPhone and stupid camera ads started appearing.
Of course, I did this days before I went away on vacation, so I switched it over then went away a day or two later, knowing about the annoying ads. When I got back, I needed to catch up on what I missed when I was away.
I emailed adbrite, and they were very little help. When we were an Alexa top 100,000 site, they were talking to me daily and had a sales rep assigned to work with our site. By adding the little alexa box to the bottom of our pages, it is helping us return to the top 100,000 (for those who care). If anyone really gives a shit about Alexa ranking shit, start a thread in the basement asking about it and I can go into more detail about it.
Running a site of this size is not cheap, and that side banner generates a good portion of our revenue. I can't not have it making money by setting it to manual again, but I can't keep these annoying ads, so I'll be exploring other options this week. I will be contacting adbrite, saying how unhappy I am and see if they will do anything about it, otherwise I will be exploring other vendors to handle that ad block.
So now everyone who has been complaining, you know the full story. Please give me a few days to work on this and possibly look for a new ad manager. And if you know anyone who would like to run ads on RonFez.Net, feel free to have them contact me.

I did notice we moved up 10,000 places on the alexa list.
if people use firefox, and use ad-blocking, does that take money away from the site or does the adblocking work so that rf.net still makes the money and it counts as a hit?

The way an ad blocker works is when a page is loaded, it is scanned by the ad blocker and stops the links to the ad site from loading. Hence, no hits to the ad and no money to the site.

Do you get more money if people actually click the links, or just get paid for the links being on the page?
Not acceptable. I want a refund. REFUND!
REFUND!

I can arrange a nice vacation for you too :devil2:
As an update, I applied to some new ad networks during my lunch break. It may take a day or two for them to accept us. We definitely have enough traffic and are an established enough site to be accepted to the different networks.

Do you think that might be enough to leverage what you want from adbrite or will it just be easier to move to another company?

What does this ranking entail?
multiple factors, but I'll give the simple answer...
traffic visiting the site in relation to all the other sites on the internet. The top 10 sites on the web are obvious... Google, Yahoo, MSN, Myspace, etc. We are now in the top 100,000 sites on the internet now.

Jon, awhile back I wanted to buy adspace from ya, but the price u were asking for was way too high and without any guarantee. I purchase at least $600 month of ads to promote my site which would have been great if I could have contributed some of it to ronfez.net. If you have specs to show people, it would be much easier to grab others.

FYI, alexa ranking does not help with traffic. I am currently at 21,500. This only indicates how many people are your site on a weekly basis. You should be looking at your keywords. Having great keywords will increase search engines visitors.
Also, I notice your site has a pr2 rating. For a site who has tons of visitors that is pretty bad. I recommend getting rid of your homepage image and directly go to your forum section.
