I don't get it.

Yeah... It's not the greatest song in the world, but I've always liked it. Am I not getting the "bit"?

Fuck Whitey

When you climb to the top of the mountain
I take a shot of Henessey
Look out over the sea
now I'm strong enough to face the madness
Think about the places perhaps, where a young man could be
nickel bags full of sess weed laced with hash
phone calls from my niggas on the other side
Then you jump back down to the rooftops
Think about all of the strange things circulating round
I couldn't cry
A damn shame, when will we ever change
And what remains
It ain't easy, it ain't easy
It ain't easy to get to heaven when you're going down
Well all the people have got their problems
That ain't nothing new
Uhh, It ain't easy, that's my motto
drinkin' tangeray straight out da bottle
everybody wanna know if I'm insane
my baby mama gotta mind full of silly games
all the drama got me stressen like I'm hopeless
I can't cope
With the help of the good Lord
We can all pull on through
Satisfaction, satisfaction
Keep me satisfied
I've got the love of a Hoochie Koochie woman
She calling from inside
She's a-calling from inside
Trying to get to you
All the woman really wants you can give her something
too

Hmmm, when I read this thread, I thought we were talking about It Ain't Easy by Ringo Starr, which I remember correctly was actually written by John Lennon.

It don't come easy
You know it don't come easy
It don't come easy
You know it don't come easy

Got to pay your dues if you want to sing the blues
And you know it don't come easy
You don't have to shout or leap about
You can even play them easy
Forget about the past and all your sorrow
The future won't last
It will soon by your tomorrow

I don't ask for much
I only want trust
And you know it don't come easy
And this love of mine keeps growing all the time
And you know it just ain't easy
Open up your heart
Let's come together
Use a little luck
And we will make it work out better

Got to pay your dues if you want to sing the blues
And you know it don't come easy
You don't have to shout or leap about
You can even play them easy
Please remember peace is how we make it
Here within your reach
If you're big enough to take it

I don't ask for much
I only want trust
And you know it don't come easy
And this love of mine keeps growing all the time
And you know it don't come easy

Ah...ok, having looked up the lyrics I guess the Ringo song was actually called "It Don't Come Easy". My bad...who's "It Ain't Easy" by?

It was written by Long John Baldry, a British blues revivalist, who died 2 years ago.

3 Dog Night & David Bowie both covered the song.

whats there not to understand, people have differing tastes.

its really quite common.

me being in my 20's my only memory of this song is on commercials so guess what, i don't think too highly of it either.

If, by "it" you mean "pimpin'", I'm in total agreement.
