Okay, here is the scenario: A volcano has erupted and lava is flowing down the streets, entombing buildings. You can run into any store to get away from the lava, but you will be trapped in the store for quite a while, maybe months.
The stores are:
Target
Walmart
Price Club
Costco
Shop Rite
Home Depot
Which do you choose and why?

I'd say Walmart, cuz they've got pretty much everything ya might need. the other options have limitations.

I do not know the difference. The ones I go to have some frozen food. Is the super center different?

yes,a super center has lots of food, pharmacy etc...at least here in AZ.

Okay, assume the super center...

supercenter is wal-mart with a full grocery store. my hick town just got one a few months ago. maybe it's a midwest thing. all of the old stores are slowly being replaced with supercenters.

Doesn't matter. I could survive in any of them. I saw this documentary called "Dawn of the Dead" that showed me how.

Without trying to start trouble unduly
I have never nor will I ever step foot inside a Walmart store. I would run through the lava to get to another store rather than step one foot inside that scurge from Bentonville ARK.
I would recommend anyone who disagrees to take alook at this documentary

It is a real eyeopener.
Im sure Im stirring up a hornets nest but thats my opinion

I watched that hideously boring documentary called "Good Copy Bad Copy" and realized I don't wanna survive in Brazil.

I feel ya. I boycotted this new supercenter (like it made a difference) for six months. eventually i ran into a situation where i could not get what i wanted at any other store in town so i broke down after 6 months. i've gone twice this year. i shop at the locally owned IGA for groceries but all of the other stores are corporate shitholes too so either way it doesn't really matter where i get my toothpaste and toilet paper.

I've seen that movie sir,and respectfully disagree, how Walmart treats/conditions it's employees is not as important to me when I need something/anything at 3:30 in the a.m.
in a town of less than NY's multi-faceted options.I guess I am indeed the ugly American.I do however, respect your opinion and harbor no hornets, just buzzards'

Costco, nigga!
They have endless non=perishable foods, plenty of entertainment, everything a guy could want. If you have electricity, then you also have HD TVs and DVDs and computers.

well since you assumed that the walmart was a supercenter
then i'll assume that the target is a super target, same premise as super walmart
and i'd choose the super target
it has all the necessities, food, enetrtainment, sleeping essentials, books and magazines

This thread reminded me of "The Mist" by stephen king. it's a story in skeleton crew. i read it when i was around 12. haven't thought about it since.
Midkiff, there probably isn't electricity if the streets are filled with lava. so no tv.
reluctantly, i choose wal-mart because they have canned food and sell shitty acoustic guitars. the first few days i would fire up a propane grill and enjoy all of the meat i could before it went bad. they have coolers and ice too so that would be a day 1 project. packing coolers with steak and ice. and beer. hit the beer hard before it gets all hot, then start in on the hard stuff. wow, this sounds fun. if only there was a volcano anywhere near me. by near i mean 1000 miles. nice thought though.

Costco and BJ's and Walmart all have plenty of food and drinks, plus the TV's and dvd players and dvd's, microwaves, medicine, books etc. They have beds, clothes and bathrooms. Im not sure about showers though.. As long as you had power, it would be fine.
I think if you had like a hundred people in the store, you could live for quite a while.
I wonder if it would be like a Lord of the Flies kind of thing? Children could be conceived and brought into the world!

Home Depot and Shop Rite is out, very little food, except that hot dog trailer outside Home Depot but you'd have to go wading through the lava, besides you can't eat a wheel barrow. Wal Mart - who wants to be rescued wearing nothing but a Eddie Rabbit t shirt. Target has childrens underwear,...heaven. It'll have to be Costco, theres enough food in there to last you years.

Target if she was there and the mechanical horse worked. If not..
Costco. Better food than Wal Mart, and they have ovens, stove, grills, etc.
If I could choose something NOT on the list, it would be Victoria's Secret on a busy day.

SR71, You've Been On A Roll With Good/Fascinating Topics!!
Without trying to start trouble unduly
I have never nor will I ever step foot inside a Walmart store. I would run through the lava to get to another store rather than step one foot inside that scurge from Bentonville ARK.
F_S Agrees With This 100%. What WalMart Has Done To This Country Is Unbelievable. We Used To Be Quality/Value Driven Consumers, And They Changed Us To Quantity/Price. Bad! They Drove Thousands Of "Mom and Pops" Out Of Business. Bad! And They Forced Lots Of Good-Paying American Jobs Into Low-Paying China. Bad!
F_S Is Starting To Feel The Same Way About Home Depot, Too. This Is Harder For F_S, Though, As He Loves Shopping At Home Depot, But He Can't Stand To Even Walk Into A WalMart.
As For The Topic: After Careful Thought, F_S Does Not Like Any Of The Choices, So He Will Buck The Trend: When The Lava Flow Comes, He Is Going To Curl Up In The Fetal Position And Just Let It Roll Over Him.
That Way, In 1,000 Years, They'll Discover Preserved F_S Like They Discovered The Preserved People In Pompeii, And The Headline Will Read "1,000 Year Old Body Found Preserved In New Jersey Lava Flow Of 2007!"
Then, If There Is Still TV, National Geographic Will Do A Special On F_S, And What They Were Able To Learn About 2007 From His Remains.
F_S Chooses To Die For Fame, For History, And For Science!
