People need to learn when they are out of their league. These are some of the smartest people this country has to offer. She should have known better.

I saw this story this morning but I didn't search out the video,
that is some of the funniest shit I have seen in a while, I hope that was a company car she was driving.
Oh, and notice how she is walking swiftly, and the hackers following her are huphing and puphing to keep up.

if they werent such nerds with their "jokes" then that would have been the greatest thing I ever seen. It was nice to see the shitty, fucked up, over exagerated, sensationalist media have the camera turned around on them. I would love to see people nvestigate reporters and their personal lives just to "out" them or to show the hypocrites that they are and how they ruin peoples lives.
ok, I need to stop butas you can tell I hate and dont trust the media.

There is more. They have already got all of her info, and some have declared war on her. Not 10 minutes after she left they had all her info, and personal photos displayed on a big screen @ DefCon.

The geeks followed her back to her car and tried to yell funny questions at her. They're hard to understand, because they quickly became winded, as jetdog already mentioned.

what was she going undercover for that she got found out ???
what was she going undercover for that she got found out ???
Trying to get someone to admit to a computer crime on camera, probably identity theft or something.

it was a hackers and security pros convention (http://www.forbes.com/technology/2007/08/06/security-hacking-challenge-tech-cx_ag_0806toughhack.html). this thread was seriously lacking in information.

yeah, i think most of us assumed some dateline producer got CAUGHT soliciting a pedophile online, or something similar. Why THIS story is thread-worthy, I dont see.

thank you, but i'm still embarrassed. the funny thing is, if you think about it, she was hacking their conference...yet they pout over this. it's against our rules, maaaaaaan!

It's kind of funny seeing one of these reporters getting chased to their car, the same way you see when they confront someone they're investigating. Would have really good if the geeks could have come up with some better lines though.

seriously, one article i read said she was violating their rules by not telling them she was a reporter. you're fuckin' outside the lines hackers! since when have you been worried about people following "rules"?

a hacker's convention makes about as much sense to me as an illegal alien protest.

Dont asume, read and or watch what the discission is about before you try to be internet tough guy and call someone out. You love going against the majority on everything.
wasnt talking about that. I was talking about how the media in general goes after people guilty or not and ruins and drags their names through the mud. Sometimes the people are guilty of something sometimes they are not. When they are wrong its too late. Its great to see the shoe on the other foot. Now they see what it feels like, its embarrasing and cant destroy someones life, careers, family etc.
This "attack" media we now hoave this country is out of control. The media doesnt let anything stay a private issue any longer for regular folks or celebrities. They have to make everything bigger and worse then they really are.
It's kind of funny seeing one of these reporters getting chased to their car, the same way you see when they confront someone they're investigating. Would have really good if the geeks could have come up with some better lines though.
thats my point.

OK. Defcon is a big hacker convention. It's like comic-con, but with better hygiene, smarter people, and less hot chicks.
They don't allow media there unless you identify yourself as media, and when you do, you have limited access with cameras. That way, the hackers know what's "on and off" the record.
The organizers of DefCon caught wind that Dateline was gonna try to do a hack piece on them, something about collusion with the feds on cybercrime.
They had all of her information before she even got in the door of DefCon, and offered her a press pass FOUR TIMES. She refused.
They knew she had tape rolling, so they went after her for breaking the code of conduct and the "honor among theives".
What DefCon people can do makes what the pests do look like child's play.

I'm in agreement with what they did to the reporter. She was probably found out in the first 15 minutes of her being there. I mean, c'mon a convention of 30 year old shut-ins sees a blonde that they think they might have something in common with. MMMMmmm hacker pussy. She was chatted up and caught right off the bat.
The part that really disgusts me though is when she's getting into her car and this one guy yells, "don't let the door hit ya where the dog should've bit ya!" That man deserves to die! This is the same kind of person that spells cool as "KEWL". That quote keeps replaying in my head like nails on a chalkboard.
Sorry for the rant.
I feel better now.
Love,
Joe
PS- please don't post the word "kewl"...it's too easy, it's a ball on a tee. Thank you.

Oh, and notice how she is walking swiftly, and the hackers following her are huphing and puphing to keep up.
Yeah that was the best part of the video. You wanted to laugh at their brilliant and clever predator puns but you couldn't make it out over the wheezing caused by a brisk walk. That and the sounds of all their book bags bouncing. When she took a bad turn trying to pull out of the parking lot, and you heard a "N-y-ha-n-y-ha-ha-ha-ha", classic geek laugh.
Regardless, fantastic to watch their slimy tactics blow up in their face. She was offered a press badge and she turned it down. They're not trying to hide anything, they couldn't be more fair. She'd lose her "Dateline Undercover" credentials if she wore a badge.
