Anyone get caught in the massive flooding this morning? I've been living in Bayside over 15 years and I've never seen anything like this. My employees just called and I told them forget about work today. You cant get anywhere.

When the fuck did Bayside become Bangladesh?

They shut down New Bridge Road this morning. The river rose up over the bridge. My 5 minute commute took me over 20 min. this morning.

At least you don't need to worry about your album collection getting ruined.

This has been a very wet last few months. My basement never gets water. The last 3 major thunderstorm downpours has given me water in the basement. I went outside to see how much water was out there, it was already gone but there must have been a lot b/c my garbage was 3 houses down. I thought someone stole it(identity theft, im paranoid i know) but I looked down the street and there it was.

Funny I should come across this thread this morning. It is thundering like hell here right now and shit has it been raining this past 2 weeks. It was sunny for a bit yesterday but just long enough for everyone to begin to believe in the existence of the sun again and then BAM...right back to the rain.
I have never seen this many thunderstorms in a one week period either...crazy!
The only good thing about all the rain is it will help with all the forest fires that have been going on around here lately, that is if the lightening didn't start any more new ones.

I am the ONLY one who made it to work today from the 9 people who are supposed to be in a 9am meeting. I live in bayside too and I consider it a miracle (or extreme luck) that I made it.

LIE CLOSED! (at Utopia)
CLEARVIEW CLOSED! (at Northern)
BQE CLOSED! (all over the place)
METRO NORTH NOT RUNNING!
and I'm sure many other disasters...

No train service but I was lucky to catch a bus. Not many people in the office though... I'm hoping for a lot of cancelled meetings!

I love the rain. It broke an awning on the side of someone's trailer last night, that's an easy $1200 job.

Thanks Mother Nature!

my normal half-hour commute turned into 2+ hours and involved 6 trains (normally 2), about 7-8 trains that were too packed to squeeze into, and ended in Times Square where i gave up on the trains and decided to walk the remaining 15 blocks.

f'n MTA!!!!!!

Hoboken was pretty bad. I saw a few people bailing out cars after a failed attempt at driving through the flood waters. It was complete chaos in Herald square with the subways not running.

Heh, I was just getting to sleep as the real heavy rain got started. It took me a while to get to sleep because I heard the absolutely fucking loudest thunderclaps ever. It sounded like somebody exploded a bomb 10 feet from my apartment.

Commish...do you live in Union NJ perchance? because that is exactly what it sounded like over here.

And as far as the flooding is concerend, that is what happens when you have 3 inches of rain fall in an hour or less.
