I Just Got A Job!!!

so i just got a job offer to teach 9th and 10th grade world history. i had a second interview at the school today with the superintendent and thought it went really well, said they would know by next tuesday at the latest. i got a call about half an hour ago from the principal offering me the job.

i am so excited about this. all my job prospects were coming up nil and was prepared to be a substitute teacher for the coming year. oh man, this fucking rocks.

im on fucking cloud nine right now. my brother and fiance just took me out for a very nice dinner and some drinks. going down to sign the contract on friday. the school is outside of my hometown in southwestern new york. i will pretty much be teaching hayseeds, but its a great school and i can't wait to start. the best thing about the situation is that i have known the principal of the school since i was a kid cause her son is my brothers best friend. i really could not have gotten a better opportunity for my first teaching position.

when i was student teaching, i taught economics. when the lesson came up about monetary and fiscal policy, and none of the students were answering my questions, i just started going, "anybody....anybody.....bueller....bueller...." none of the students got it, but i sure as hell got a kick out of it.

first day of school tomorrow! i am really excited about this. have had a few teacher inservice days and all that good stuff, but tomorrow is the first day with students. finished setting up my room this afternoon, though i need to find a few more good posters to put on some of the blank spots on the wall. not going to get into any real content until monday cause everything is so hectic the first few days. going over rules and procedures tomorrow with some introductions of myself. then on thurs and fri. doing some group work activities so students know what to expect out of me in future lessons.

p.s. this also means no more late night thread for me, even though that thread seems to be on its last legs. nothing like having to be at work by 7:15...
