TMZ has confirmed that Owen Wilson was taken to the hospital Sunday in Los Angeles.

Santa Monica Police issued the following statement to TMZ: "On Sunday Aug. 26. 2007 at 12:10 pm officers from the Santa Monica Police Department responded to a medical assistance call from the Santa Monica Fire Department at the 900 block of 23rd Street. The person was transported to a local hospital where they are being treated."

TMZ has learned the 911 call came in at 11:59 a.m. to the L.A. Fire Department.

Citing medical privacy laws, they would not release any additional information, nor would they comment on why he was transported.

A call to Owen's rep was not immediately returned.

Two things came to my mind before reading the article, one was what you said, the second was that in every movie he writes/cowrites he seems to portray his character as a hiddenly dark and drug addled person, and I've always thought it was possibly a reflection of real life, so I hate to say this, but I'm not surprised. Hope he gets well, hope his family is doing all right.

I hope he wasn't listening to Needle in the Hay by Elliot Smith. I remember when I first say the Royal Tenebaums that it was a really cool sounding song. And I'd download it and listen to it a bunch of times and then realize that the song was played while a guy was slitting his wrists.

I wonder if that happens when you discover music from a movie and get kinda into it and then forget where it came from and then watch the movie again. Oh wait, so that's the song that Marsellus Wallace got ass-fucked to. that's far from fuckin' alright.

You're only saying people are hypocrites because you don't agree with the valuation people make. For many, a person harming innocents who can't defend themselves (even animals) is worse than a person deciding to harm themselves. Just because you don't agree doesn't make people hypocrites.

I guess it depends on what or whos life you value more. I value human life more then any animals.

So if someone from the show tries to commit suicide then it will be goddamn easy to understand that their life wasnt as valuable as a dogs? Remember that, because if someone ever kills themselves or dies from the show (hopefully not) then it will be ok if people make jokes!

Nobody's talking about value of human life vs. animal life, I don't think. It's a question of making an affirmative choice to harm or kill yourself as opposed to making a similar decision to harm someone else.

As to whether it's appropriate to make jokes, everyone has their line, and every situation is different. The closer you are to the person in question, the less appropriate to you such jokes will seem. That's just the way it is and also has nothing to do with valuing dog's lives over human lives. Also, he's not dead. That makes a difference as well as to whether people will feel jokes are inappropriate. If he was dead, some might feel differently.

A Person Who Commits Suicide Makes A CHOICE. It Is Not That Their Life Is Less Valuable Than A Dog's, But It Was Their Life And They Made A Choice What To Do With It.

The Dogs Did Not Have A Choice.

No further comments were expected

so Owen seems to be feeling well...but maybe a little foolish.....

part of the subtext here is....that Owen Wilson is a man privileged to have just about anything he wants......so naturally he does not seem like a good candidate for this possible suicide attempt......

of course.....this doesn't preclude the possibility that his public image of joviality is all just a sham

What is funny:

Michael Vick - because no humans were hurt and the dogs involved were not "cute" breeds. See: Denis Leary, No Cure for Cancer, "Get in the truck!" (No one is making fun of the dogs. The people to make fun of are Vick's stupidity and the people who feel a need to protest this hard over something like this. There is no difference between what PETA did about Vick and what the PAC did with Smashing radios. Only difference? PETA's got a better PR team.

I think what Vick did was a savage thing. However, maybe because I haven't been a dog owner in over 15 years I can't understand why people are so worked up over killing a breed that is one of the most dangerous out there. If Michael Vick was killing great white sharks, who have killed and maimed less humans than Pit Bulls over the past 20 years, would people be so upset? )

Owen Wilson - Rich and Famous suicide attempt, self-inflicted, a cry for help.

Nick Hogan - Idiot kid with a lead foot and the passenger who was hurt was potentially not wearing a seatbelt.

Wilson's addiction was so severe, his pal Woody Harrelson tried to stage an intervention at his home in Maui.
