The Senator Calls It A Mis-Understanding; A "He Said/He Said" Situation, And Yet He Pleaded Guilty To Dis-Orderly Conduct. Weird...There Seem To Be An Outbreak Of Gay-Ness In The GOP !

This isn't too much of a shock, as Larry Craig has been accused of being a closeted homosenator....err...homosexual for quite some time.
Who could resist his charms?

you do know that people do plead guilty to things all the time that they arent guilty of? They do this because it ends easily, they know they cant prove their innocence, pleading guilty and not being able to prove your innocence knowing if you plead there will be no jail or nothing major on your record. This does happen often.
That all being said, he is your typical Republican. He is probably in the closet.
Senator Craig is up for re-election next year. I'd bet a fair amount of money that he won't risk the seat for his party & will announce his planned retirement within the next few weeks.

1. It Is Not Routine For Sitting US Senators To Plead Guilty To Things They Are Guilty Of, Much Less Things They Are Not Guilty Of.
2. They Do Not Have To Prove Their Innocence!! The Government Has To Prove Their Guilt!!
3. Nothing Major On His Record? You Don't Think That The People In Idaho And His Senate Colleagues Will Consider This As "Major"??

Political positions and actionsCraig is a long-time, leading advocate for a Balanced Budget Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
Craig is a supporter of the guest-worker program proposed by President George W. Bush. In April 2005, Craig attempted to amend an Iraq War supplemental bill with an AgJOBS amendment that would have granted legal status to between 500,000 and 1 million illegal immigrants in farm work. The amendment received 53 votes; 60 were needed because the amendment was not relevant to the matter at hand.[7] A version of the AgJOBS bill legislation was included in the Senate-passed immigration reform bill in 2006.
Craig, the principal sponsor of AgJOBS, continues to support amnesty for illegal immigrants who are "trusted workers with a significant work history in American agriculture."[8] This position has been sharply criticized by anti-immigration activists[9].
In October 2005, Craig suggested that flooded sections of New Orleans should be abandoned after Hurricane Katrina had hit. "Fraud is in the culture of Iraqis. I believe that is true in the state of Louisiana as well." Craig was quoted as saying in a local paper.[10]
On December 16, 2005, Craig voted against a cloture motion filed relative to the USA PATRIOT Act; the motion ultimately earned only 52 votes, and so a Democratic filibuster against extension of the Act (due to expire at the end of 2005) was permitted to continue.[11] On December 21, 2005, Craig backed a six-month extension of the Act while further negotiations took place.[12] On February 9, 2006, Craig announced an agreement among himself, the White House, and fellow Senators John E. Sununu, Arlen Specter, Lisa Murkowski, Chuck Hagel, and Richard Durbin to reauthorize the Act.[13]
In 2006, Craig posted to his Senate website all the earmarks[14] he had inserted into federal spending bills since joining the Senate Appropriations Committee in 1998.
The American Conservative Union gave Craig's 2005 voting record 96 points out of 100. The liberal Americans for Democratic Action gave him 15. Considered a social conservative, Craig has long been an advocate of adoption. Senator Craig supports the Federal Marriage Amendment, voting for cloture on the amendment in both 2004 and 2006. He voted against cloture on a bill in 2002 which would have extended the federal definition of hate crimes to cover sexual orientation.[15]
On June 26, 2007, Craig once again reiterated his support for the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2007.

I had no idea that there were these kind of signals for bathroom seduction. I will have to make sure to remove the headphones or turn off the mp3 player in public restrooms from now on. I would hate to find myself in jail for tapping my foot suggestively at an undercover cop. It would be my luck that my wife has loaded the music and the Weather Girls start playing just as the cop is checking to see if the player is actually "turned on", destroying my presidential run before it ever really gets going.

As the article states, it was in the Minneapolis international airport (very nice airport by the way, and they love the O & Aaaaaay), and the reason the cop was in there was that the cops had received a number of complaints about lewd conduct occurring in the bathroom.

My mistake about the airport.
Is there so little crime in Minneapolis that the cops have to hide in bathrooms? They're lewd behavior is our subway ride to work. Maybe if they'd thrown a couple of bucks towards fixing bridges instead of wasting resources stopping a few guys from getting a handy the world would be a better place today. Just imagine a poor Dave McDonald needing to release poisons in an airport bathroom having his poor mishapen head hauled before a judge.

Craig did more than tap his foot.
If you really want to be cautious, you should do the following:
Make sure you don't tap your foot after peering into the stall next to you for 2 minutes, and then running your hand up and down the bottom of the stall 3 times at an Airport mens room known for sexual activity. Then you shouldn't accept an outright guilty plea to charges against you.

Well, There Is A New Factor In This Case That F_S Finds Quite Disturbing: The Police Tape.
First, If Men Are Having Sex In Public Bathrooms, That Is Not Good, And The Authorities Have Every Right To Put An End To It. But If This Was The Goal, And If The Police Force Could Spare A Cop To Sit In A Stall And Wiggle His Foot, Then Why Don't They Just Put A Sign In The Bathroom That Says "This Room Under Surveillance" And Then Post A Cop IN The Bathroom In Uniform Every Few Days??? That Would End It, Wouldn't It? If They Are Busting People And Then Not Printing Their Names, How Does That Act As A Deterrent?
Second, F_S Has No Doubt That Craig Was Actually Guilty Of Looking For Sex In The Bathroom.
Now, Fat Heard The Tape Played On XM Tonight And Did Not Like What He Heard. The Cop Sounded Like A Real Punk Badgering A US Senator And Saying Stuff Like "I Can't Believe People Actually Voted For You".
If They Treat A Senator Like That, How Do They Treat The Average Schmuck Without Power Or Money?
Looking Back, Craig Should Have Bit The Bullet And Insisted On A Lawyer.
How Do You Think The Cop Behaved? Should Tapes Like This Even Be Released To The Public?
If Chris The Cop Reads This, Did The Policeman Behave Properly?

I know a lot of cops and have seen them in action. A lot of them (not all) talk like jerkoffs. They have this attitude about them, like your a piece of shit and this sarcastic way of talking down to people. I have even seen them high 5 each other after arresting someone, like they just scored a TD. Its not a game, its your life, its someone elses life. Be professional.
Dont be shocked, thats how they do what they do. (not all). But that is the exact reason I have such disdain for cops. Not for doing their job, but for how they do it and treat people. Like I said I have a lot of close friends that are cops and I have told this to their face, that they act like dicks and most of them if not all agreed. They even said this is why they hate other cops and then I say "but you act just like that" and then they say "true but..."
25 years ago when my Grandfather and Uncle were cops it seemed like things were different. Like cops were friends to the community, now it seems like they are hated or not trusted. Then again maybe things arent different because when I see my Uncle who is retired around other cops especially ones he doesnt know he acts just like them. Maybe they have always been like this?

First of all you are talking about a policeman and a politician. It would definitely be a tight race to see who is more of a self grandiose douchebag. Cops are taught to act like this from day one. They are the "law" if you are doing something they don't like you are breaking the "law". If they get you pissed off and get you to do or say something stupid they can charge you with breaking more "laws". The cop is always going to be right.
Now if your asking do I feel bad for the senetor. No I have even less respect for them because while they are supposed to be serving their constituency they only serve themselves.

I think it's a basic psychological thing. You are giving power to people who have lived their lives as normal citizens. I think it's natural that a lot of people given that power will act like a jerk-off.
I have a flip-floppy view of cops. At times I completely respect what they do and think of them as modern day hero's that serve the community above themselves. At other times I just see them as over-priveledged assholes with an "I'm better than you" attitude, which is completely unmerited because the path to becoming a police officer requires less work than the path to joining most other professions.

Well I didn't hear these tapes, but didn't the senator slide over a business card showing he was a senator and say "Now what do you think about that"? Was this before or after the cop started acting like a douche?

That is the part of the story that makes me the most uncomfortable. What an arrogant and stupid thing to say. Also, Craig's initial reaction to the police badge screaming, "NO!" gives me chills.

It's official. You won't have Larry Craig to kick around anymore.

Please remember that Larry Craig's "not gay and never has been gay." Sen. Craig just likes to have sex in public restrooms with random men.

This whole sorry episode reminded me of the Roy Cohn character in Angels in America.

According to this article from the Seattle papers, the GOP is losing a pretty power anti-environmental Senator in Larry Craig. This article is rather interesting, (http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/connelly/329774_joel31.html) especially considering I had no real clue about the guy until the last 10 days.
We progressive-thinkers won't miss this guy one bit.

* Senator John Tower
* Representative Mark Foley
* Deputy Secretary of State Randal Tobias

Our Mission
IDAHOANS ON LOAN TO THE WORLD….. a catch phrase to describe a 20 year quest to introduce the Greats of Idaho’s Past and Present to the greatest resource Idaho has to offer ......its youth!!
The Idaho Hall Fame is a non-profit organization. It maintains a 501c3 status which allows contributions to be tax deductible. The organization’s main goal over the last 20 years has been to search out those men and women of Idaho that have made an impact on their communities, their state, the nation and in many cases, the World.
From 1995 through 2002 there have been eight Induction Ceremonies held in different cities around the State. Almost 100 individuals to date have been honored. Men and woman from all walks of life ……. Musicians, Businessmen, Entertainers, Educators, Authors, Artists, Farmers/Ranchers, Clergymen, Statesmen, Diplomats, who have climbed to great heights, some from very humble beginnings with pages of life experience to inspire our up and coming generations. Along with this prestigious group many Idaho Businesses and Organizations have also been recognized for their contributions.
From 2003 until May of 2006 the Idaho Hall of Fame Organization has been on hold. In May a renewed interest occurred and the spark of enthusiasm has been rekindled.
A new Board of Directors has been formed and new goals have been set.
Over the next few years the intention of the new Board is to first and foremost focus on the selection of new Idaho Hall of Fame Inductees.
One of our newest endeavors will involve the combined efforts of our Education Community and the Idaho Hall of Fame Inductees. The idea is to establish a program that will enable our Inductees to share with students around the State, their life experiences……. to pass on to them the importance of hard work and the determination to succeed no matter the odds. We feel that the concept of mentors and real life heroes has been lost and with this combined effort our goal will be to reestablish this link.
A plan is also underway to set up scholarships for Senior Students…………..and recognize them as future Inductees in the Hall of Fame.
Funds permitting, another goal is to establish a permanent office in the Boise area with a staff dedicated to the growth of the organization.
And finally to build a Website which will open and encourage communication with all of our loyal supporters and future members around the World to keep you apprised of our progress.
For more information please contact us at Idaho Hall of Fame, P.O. Box 1250, Meridian, Idaho 83680.

I thought this guy was going to resign. Now he's staying until the end of his term. Watch, he'll then reconsider running for another term.
That must be the best job, nobody ever wants to leave there.
Unfortunately for comedy writers throughout America, Senator Larry Craig did not file re-election papers by the due date. Link here (http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/craig-keeps-promise-to-retire-2008-03-21.html).

The keepsakes consist of a miniature bathroom stall with a couple of lower legs and feet. One of the feet is springloaded and "taps," which, the Saints' press release says, is in honor of National Tap Dance Day.
Right.
The team also takes pains to note: "It doesn't matter if your tapping style is done with a 'wide stance' or is used as some sort of code."
