Is HomeMade Allowed As A Choice? Cause If It Is, F_S Will Choose The Original Toll House Cookies, Made With A Little Extra Butter So It Fries Out Onto The Baking Sheet. These Are Just Too Delicious For Words.

For Store-Bought, Some Of The ShopRite's Have An In-Store Baked Line Of "Gourmet Cookies" That Are Made With Butter Instead Of Veggie Oil Or Margarine. They Are Chocolate Chunk; Or White Chocolate Chunk; Or Peanut Butter; Or, At The One In Englewood They Have A Double Chocolate Cookie With Chocolate Chunks. That One Is The BEST !!

Chocolate chip never lets me down. I appreciate a good oatmeal raisin cookie. I just dipped a couple of them in milk about 3 hours ago. What bothers me about them is, at first glance, I always think they are chocolate chip. I bite into it, expecting chocolate, and I get raisins. It's always so disappointing.

On a side note... I had some cookies today that had chocolate chip and cranberry. Those are two things that I really love. I discovered today, that I DON'T LOVE THEM TOGETHER!!!

What about brownies? Are these technically cookies? Okay so they're square instead of round. But they're baked like cookies. You can put chocolate chips in them, or put frosting on them. Hell you can put pot in them (sounds better than it tastes). I love brownies. I like cookies.

Brownies are baked as one big object to be sliced into smaller objects, like a cake. Cookies are dropped on a sheet indiviually, unless you're making cookie bars, which is more like a brownie/cake than a true cookie.

And you could put chips and frosting in and on a cake. Does that make a cake a cookie? No, I think not.

Okay, okay I'll conceed a little. However sugar cookies are, at times, made into one large sheet and then cut with a cookie cutter before baking. So is the final definition based on when the object is cut? Cookies before baking, brownies after?

Yes, if it's cut pre-cooking, it could qualify as a cookie. As it's pretty durn impossible to cut brownie batter prior to cooking, I'd still classify that as cake-like.

I love them all. Rainbow, Pignoli, Oatmeal Raisin, Choc Chip w/walnuts, Pecan Sandies etc. They're all great.

But I've always had a thing for Shortbread Cookies for some reason. Not overly sweet, crunchy and with a faint nuttiness if they're made right. Also, they're real easy to make and there are a zillion (http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images;_ylt=A9gnMiZARHRHcOUAZVKJzbkF?p=shortbread+ cookie+mold&ei=UTF-8&fr=yfp-t-501&x=wrt&js=1&ni=20)new and antique pans out there with beautiful designs.

Recipe, NOW!!!

Here's the recipe I cut out of the Washington Post a few years ago. I usually double the recipe because it doesn't make that many (or I'm just making them too big or something)

Pecan Crescents

1 cup flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 stick unsalted butter at room temp.
3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. almond extract
1/2 cup coarsely chopped pecans

Center a rack in the middle of the oven; preheat to 325. Line rimmed baking sheets with parchment paper.
Sift together flour and salt--set aside.
In large bowl, beat on medium speed the butter and 1/4 cup of the confectioners' sugar for 1 minute until smooth. Add vanilla and almond extracts. Reduce speed to low and add flour mixture, mixing until just incorporated. The dough should look smooth and shiny. Add the pecans, mixing until just combined. Roll a rounded teaspoon of dough between the palms of your hands into a cylinder with tapered ends. Place on baking sheet, curving into a crescent. Place cookies 1 inch apart (they don't spread much during baking).
Bake for 20-24 minutes, until the cookie edges and pointed ends are light brown. Cool on the sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.
Place the remaining 1/2 cup of confectioners' sugar in a shallow dish and roll each cookie until evenly coated.

That's it!

The two girls I take care of are both Girl Scouts. We are overflowing with girl scout cookies, and I can't stop eating Thin Mints! I will probably have to start a "Morbidly Obese" thread in the near future.

Thin mints are the shit. Go to McDonald's and wash them down with a Shamrock Shake.

Of course. Everyone else there are animals. Just use the drive through. BTW... They have them now, from what I saw on FB. A friend of mine said she just had her first one ever. She's 40 and had never even heard of them before today.
