White House Press Secretary Tony Snow is resigning today according to NBC News. Link to story here. (http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2007/08/31/341618.aspx)

The funniest quote is attributed to Snow about his salary: "If I had the dough I'd stay 'til the bitter end” while complaining about the only $168K he was pulling down per year.

Oh, that poor suffering little bastard and his measly $168,000 a year.

Cunt.

Everything's falling into place for the new lame duck administration.

Before calling the guy a cunt understand that he's dying of cancer and is trying to put enough money in place for his family to survive after he's gone.

I'm going to defend Midkiff here a bit.

First of all, I feel for the guy with the cancer and chemo he has gone through. And hell, Press Secretary for any White House (much less this one) has to be a fucking killer.

If he had released a press release with a statement such as this:

With my personal health issues in the past, I have come to realize that the stress of this role has become too much. I need to shift my priorities to my family and will devote more time to my wife and kids. I have begun to seek employment outside of the White House to continue to care for my family.

If Tony Snow had done that....nobody on this planet could argue with that. In fact he could have turned this whole thing into a positive and done some real good for the nation & his checkbook. But he didn't. Here's the deal, Tony Snow himself cited money, not health as the reason he was leaving.

So to most Americans ... here is a Republican who says that $168K ain't enough money. That's a tough message to sell.

I am uncomfortable telling anyone with malignant cancer how they should bow out. This guy has young kids who I am sure he is telling that everything will be ok. I realize that slamming republicans is the soup du jour, but this is one that is best left alone.

I get that point, it definitely isn't a good spot to be in. However he is a professional communicator & he framed the issue in this manner. In the end he has nobody to blame for any backlash but himself.

When F_S Was Just A Punk Starting Out As An Entrepeneur, He Shared An Office With An Older Guy Who Had A Company That Made Money By The Bucketful.

F_S Once Said To The Guy Something Like "It Must Be Nice To Make So Much Money That You Do Not Need To Worry About Anything". The Guy Said Back "F_S, Your Assets And Liabilities Are Just Like Mine...Only Mine Have A Few More Zero's At The End. I Have To Worry Just As Much As You Do".

That Has Always Stuck With F_S And Over The Years It Has Proved Very True.

Before This, Snow Was A Fox News Guy Who Made What? Half A Million A Year? F_S Has No Idea, But It Was Certainly More Than $168,000. He Probably Bought A Big House Based On That High Salary And All The Rest. Living On $168,000 A Year In Washington, DC Probably Is A Stretch For A Guy In His League. He Can Probably Triple His Income Tomorrow.

But, Yeah, He Could Have Worded It Alot Better.

He was a cunt long before he had cancer, and he continued being a cunt after he got diagnosed. I have all the sympathy in the world for a guy with cancer, I lost both my grandfathers and my step-grandfather, all to cancer. However, having cancer makes him no less of a cunt.

As far as his family, the dude was already rich, and still is rich. You know he also had ungodly amounts of life insurance. His family will be fine.

None of this has anything to do with him being a cunt.

In his press conference yesterday Snow actually said his health was improving, not declining. Link to article here (http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2007/08/30/snow-says-his-health-is-improving/).

So you can stop with the "Tony Snow is dying" dramatics.

Seriously, what the fuck was he supposed to say...look at the guy he's gaunt, losing his hair and barely has energy to speak. All I was suggesting was that you show the guy a little compassion. But he is a Republican so smashing him is a safe bet. Congrats at jumping on the band wagon.

Once again...chemo is a bitch and that's why he looks awful. But I'm simply stating that he himself is telling everyone that he is doing this for money and money only. In fact he claims that his health is improving. I've gotta take his word for it.

To take a different tact would be attempting to draw false sympathy to the man that he himself does not seem to want.

Bull shit. Half of this country is still fucking hayseeds who will go to their grave voting republican, regardless of the circumstances. I live in Texas. There ain't no republican-bashing bandwagon to jump on. Maybe it feels that way to you because you live in one of the very few big cities in this country, and therefore your immediate area may be more democratic, but most of the country is not so.

Tony Snow is a cunt.

I'll bet that some of it is his frustration at the White House as well. After all, he got the snot beat out of him by the press over GonzoGate-justifiable, but he really did get the brunt of the outrage while "shielding" the President. Before he was press secretary, he was very hard on the administration for keeping quiet over stuff like this and combining that with his health problems, he probably jumped ship like the rest of us conservatives did a long time ago.

I wouldn't be too hard on Snow. It would be like holding Dee Dee Myers responsible for President Clinton's lying under oath.

It could be the guilt of defending an immoral and incompetent administration who blatantly lied to the public since day 1 of taking office. After all, It was GWB who took name calling and badmouthing to a whole new level and that was against democrats and republicans. I think most people would agree that making the republicans look like the party of "poor me, everyones picking on me" is pretty nauseating.

Tony Snow is actually a very talented PS and this is a huge blow for the White House. I have no doubt that Snow's relationships with reporters keeps them off the back of the Bush Administration. Hopefully we are not going back to the Scott McClellan days.

Hopefully we are. It is the responsibility of the press to bust the nuts of the Press Secretary for information. There have been many times over the course of the past 7 years that the press has not done it's job.
