i took the tower of london tour, and it was pretty interesting. but one thing that struck me was that at the end of the tour, you get wisked through some of the crown jewels. millions and millions of dollars worth of diamond-encrusted crowns and ruby-encrusted scepters and whatnot. and then when we hit the exit, there's homeless people just outside.

people without a dime in their pocket just feet away from boat-loads of jewels that aren't doing anything other than sitting there for idiots like me to gawk at. seemed kind of cruel and unfair.

/oh, and to sorta get back on topic, the original beefeaters were apparently paid, in part, with meat, hence the name.
