Has anyone else noticed this squabble between the US and China?
It started a few months ago with the poor quaility items they ship over (lead in baby food and Melamine in dog food), and they have fired back with poor quality US imports. Now there are accusations of China hacking into the Pentagons (http://news.wired.com/dynamic/stories/C/CHINA_US_HACKERS?SITE=WIRE&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT) computers...
Whats going on? Is this going to keep escalting? Are we getting close to war or something?

Awesome! Now we can accuse asians of terrorist acts all the time!!! (I personally can't tell the difference between Chinese and Japanese people without hearing them speak).

Wait until your home appliances have their "chinese nationalism" chips activated and start attacking their american swine overs.

If they attack we're fucked. They got like a billion peeps. And most of our troops are in the middle east.

Are they going to rename "Chinese" Food to "Oriental" Food? (ala Freedom Fries)

No. No they wont.
There will be noone to cook it, because we will end up putting every oriental in prison camps, to prevent any internal spying - ala ww2.

They traced it back to the state department I think. Or at least thats what the news said, and who knows if thats right.

Are we getting close to war or something?

Yep.

China has a lot of glaciers that are melting and will therefore flood the farmlands in which it gets its food supply.

As the food supply diminishes, China will be looking for more land.

That will lead to invasions. That will lead to the superpowers getting involved.

That will lead to war.

Oh, the war is coming. It always was coming, and always will be coming. It's just a question of when, and how fast you can learn Chinese and become a servant. Unless you just wanna be shot in the head. Your choice.

Of Course, F_S Doesn't Want To Get Taken Over By Anybody, But If It Had To Happen, He Would Much Rather Be A Slave To The Chinese Than To The Islamic Arabs. The Chinese Have Added Alot To World Culture Over The Years, And Their Women Are Just So Adorable. This Is Just A Personal Preference, Though.

Talking of a war between the US and China as if it's inevitable is a pretty big stretch. Hell, people thought it was a sure thing that the US and the USSR would throw down, and look how that ended up. China doesn't even come close to sniffing the naval and air capacity of either the Soviets or the US, so unless you're assuming that they're fine with popping off a few nukes and getting almost everyone killed, fine, then maybe it is inevitable. I prefer to live in reality where cartoon supervillains don't run either country.

If we cant kick Al Quadas ass, how the hell can we hope to win against a country that is as large as the lower 48 with three times the amount of people? The only way we could win is by nuking, and you know nothing will let that happen.
But why the sudden posturing that seems to be intensifying between the US and China lately? What is the cause? Is it simply our bashing of their poor quality products? Their good quality product are actually pretty well made. I am impressed with some things that they make. I just bought a scooter that was made in China and it is very nicely made.

Such as? As world powers, they've been shoving each other back and forth on this scale for decades. If you're lumping in the manufacturing snafus, those don't really count as "posturing."

Honestly, the way our economy is being shipped out, China just had to wait and within the next century they'll pretty much own this country without having to fire a single bullet. A war simply makes no sense short of madman running either country and starting one on purpose.

Military technology isn't the problem. It's numbers. China's infantry alone - just that one part of the one service - is larger than our entire Armed Forces all combined. They have the rest of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, etc. They're a giant fricking anthill, just waiting for somebody to disturb the soil.

I heard the Chinese Army started digging a really deep hole ten years ago. It's only a matter of time before a billion Chinese soldiers pop out somewhere in America and there's only 300 million Americans to fight them off. This is why Bush was all about letting all the Mexicans into America - to have an all-Mexican Army. Secretly, he called the "guest worker program" Operation: The Whole Burrito. He may look and act stupid, but he aint. He's stupid like a Fox! And he's stopping all the Chinese toys coming over here because he found out that the Chinese were sending all that lead paint over here on purpose. See, the lead bullets they were gonna carry over here through the tunnel would melt in the core of the earth cuz it's so durn hot! So they been painting all them toys with real thick lead and when they get here they're gonna steal all the toys back from our kids and melt them down and make the bullets they need to shoot all our dogs and cats and eat em so we'll be so sad that we won't have the will to fight back. See it's all about America's morale. So don't never talk about this ain't happenin cuz it is, I heard it on the innernet and if you say it ain't then you're sappin our morale and we're gonna need it when the Chinese eat all our pets like Hitler tried to do. We need to just nuke them Chinofascists so I don't have to git drafted and have to miss the NASCAR Mullet-Dega 500 this weekend. So nuke their ass and take their... egg rolls?

http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/070921/china_tainted_products.html?.v=8 (Mattel is now China's bitch)

The world's largest toy maker sent a top executive to personally apologize to China's product safety chief, Li Changjang, as reporters and company lawyers looked on.

"Mattel takes full responsibility for these recalls and apologizes personally to you, the Chinese people, and all of our customers who received the toys," Thomas A. Debrowski, Mattel's executive vice president for worldwide operations, told Li.

Reminds me of early 2001 when W and crew apologized to China for putting one of our planes where a Chinese pilot happened to be shooting so we could get our people back.

As the Prophet Ronnie B has instructed us "Don't fuck with the money."

The spy plane that the Chinese jet crashed into, destroying the Chinese plane and killing the pilot and forcing the spy plane to emergency land?

I don't think that was a big deal. We were spying. Shocker. We got caught. Dumb. Chinese pilot got cocky and killed himself fucking with his "catch" - probably we refused his orders to land or something - and the Chinese leadership made a big deal out of it to impress their public and save face. I doubt it had a long-term impact on relations because everybody knows we both spy on each other. We just got sloppy and embarassed.

But our relations with China are fine. Everybody's elite are making ass-loads of cach off China's growth so nobody's going to war any time soon.

I need to tell you to go look up info at GlobalSecurity.org (http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/china/plan-mod.htm)?

The Chinese are looking to modernize their Navy and move it from a White Water force (littoral/coastal) to a Blue Water force. They want to build a carrier (http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/china/cv.htm)though this may be sometime down the road. They have guided missile destroyers (http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/russia/956.htm)that are almost as good as our DDG-51s

YOU try and navigate that fucking website! It's like trying to find your way home on an all-syrup Slushee high! I used to work with those guys at FAS and I know they made that website a pain in the ass on purpose because they get their profits from advising and consulting for the media and other groups - if everyone could make sense of their website the phone would never ring, they couldn't bill for anything and John Pike would never get his name in the papers.

One of the things I learned from those guys was that the thing that separated us from the Chinese, aside from the fact we still spent multiple times more on military equipment, was that while the Chinese were still buying or building individual big warships or planes, we only commission equipment in holistic systems - we design a carrier that goes with the jets that fly off it that goes with the support aircraft, the fleet ships, radar and missile systems, etc. I think they call it the Garanimals procurement method. So is China still building piecemeal or are they doing systems now?

It wasn't their toughness that concerned me. It was their hand-holding.

I believe that although they are reliant on foreign military purchases, and the shit they steal, the Chinese are bolstering their indigineous production capablilties and are looking toward developing systems in a comprehensive suite.
