Hey, how's it going. After seeing a trailer for this movie I thought I'd be a "Walk the Line"-ish parody that kinda "Spinal Tap"-esque which shows a man's journey through the many ages of music phenomenons. After seeing the second extended trailer I can tell I'll be actually what I thought it would be. But, if you're one of those guys who enjoys Anchorman and Talledaga Nights and don't care what other people think and just know that it's fucking crazy and quote Ron Bennington and the Doors "ride the snake to the lake", you'll enjoy the movie.

Plus, I really enjoy the whole "I'm Zeus" business. Makes me chuckle.

I saw the trailer when I went to see Superbad. The audience didn't seem to care for it but for someone who hates movies like Ray and Walk the Line (yes, I hated Ray, suck it), I really want to see the movie.
What sold me was the classic epiphany look after he says 'I'm not gonna Walk Hard.'

Dude, your 100% right. I tried to watch Ray for the first time the other
night on ABC, and it STUNK. All biographical movies tend to stink.
This has potental, just because it is spoofing a TERRIBLE genre.

Well, he actually says..."I WILL walk hard"..but yeah, the look is classic.
and once again, theres the violent woman punching a guy during sex, ala Californication... am I wrong for loving the THOUGHT of that?
I think I'll see this movie. If only on cable.

Doesn't look good enough to get me in the theater, but nothing much is. I think it will be great fun, when it comes out on cable.

I'm not really big on the whole "Will Ferrell schtick", either.
But Talledega Nights was one of the funniest things
I have ever seen.

I still haven't seen Talledega Nights or Blades of Glory but I think Anchorman might be one of the funniest smartest most solid comedies of the past 5 years.

Talladega Nights was more like Anchorman. Really ridiculous jokes that you'll either like or hate. Very improvisational type humor. Some jokes just go way to long.
Blades of Glory is more of a tight structure of humor. If ya like Dodgeball, you'll probably like Blades.

I had a guidance counselor is high school that honestly could have been a Leon Phelps in his 50's. He talked exactly like him. I can just imagine him saying "You should go Penn States, there's lots of ladies there".

Totally!
ANCHORMAN is one of those rare movies where the jokes somehow stay funny even after multiple viewings. Every line is a gem.
Also on that list:
THE BLUES BROTHERS
AIRPLANE II
and
JOHNNY DANGEROUSLY. (that's right, I said it.)

i went and saw it
really unimpressive
i liked the others from the genre
it almost seemed like the guys who made it were obsessed with walk the line and they did like epic movie-esq thing where they took the movie line for line and tried to make it funny
instead it was kinna week
they didnt do enough with the character itself and just focused on parody
poor

Circuit City is selling both the 1 disc and 2 disc versions for $15.99 this week (they usually sell the 2 disc for $25 if there is a seperate 1 disc that comes out at the same time, It's probably a mistake.)

I rented it yesterday. I watched the extended director's cut version, enjoyed it and would recommend it. I even watched it again with the commentary track.
Too many movies are so slow or uninteresting that I put on the display timer and I keep looking at that to see how long the movie's been going and how much longer I have to watch it. Or I'll stop it and watch some TV or go on the internet then resume watching it. But this I went straight through with no problem.
I like Judd Apatow films and Jonah Hill pops up unexpectedly. There are also gratuitous shots of naked female breasts, something that has been lacking in most mainstream movies for years.

I'd buy it if it was cheaper or part of a "buy something get one free" deal. I didn't hae the film, but I was really let down by it...I thought it was going to be more of a satire, but it ended up being a really broad parody, like the middle ground between Airplane! and Scary Movie! in terms of the quality of those types of films.

It was pretty good for a drama/musical. I normally don't like that genre.
