Yeah, but that was an anniversary and a Blues guy. Pavarotti just died and was an Opera virtuoso. Although he deserves respect, I don't think he fits into the musical melange that makes up Pepper Hicks.

Of course I could be wrong. Didn't Pavarotti do an album of Duets with major pop music stars? He could conceivably pull something from that.

The point is that his song choice was based upon the fact that the day in question was an "important" day for some musical artist, which is what Earl does as well.

I agree that we'll probably not see something Pavarotti related from Hicks, but I don't think that Earl would have done the same.

OK, OK, point taken.

I was just saying that Earl usually didn't wait until the body was cold but the only "death dedication" from Pepper (that I can remember) was to honor JLH who died 6 years ago. Also, Hooker seems to gel with Pepper's musical tastes more than Pavarotti (at least IMO).

Why do you always argue with me? :annoyed:

I guess, my thought is that the "Earl-hate" (and ESD-hate) does get old. I have no problems with criticizing these guys when they actually do something wrong.

It just seems like complete overkill to throw in an Earl insult (or an ESD insult) when the discussion has nothing to do with them, just to insult the guys.

fuck the customer. employers should be able to track their employees if they want, especially cab drivers.
ron says that no one should be watching you like big brother, but really it's only the government that needs to be kept out. employers who are paying their employees for their mobility should be allowed to track.
that said, there should not be a law mandating the technology. there should only be a law that allows employers to do this, but not making it a requirement that spend the money on this if they don't want.

Although my comment was a bit barbed, it was accurate.

I agree that Ron said that, but I disagree with him. Earl did mark deaths by playing that person's songs, but he celebrated other events through song (Ali's birthday got "Mama Said Knock You Out", the vote on whether ESD would stay with Clash's "Should I Stay or Should I Go.") for example.

In other words, his song choice was often affected by news on a specific day, anniversaries, deaths, who they were going to interview, etc. I liked that about his choices. Plus it made it easier to guess the song.

they are talking about 2 different things. the train from london to paris is not the same as the urban mass transit systems. it is more like amtrak.
what is wrong with being independent and using cars? if you're willing to pay the premiums associated with it, then it's just a different lifestyle choice based on your preference. I live in the burbs of philly and take the train all the time, but there are times where I don't feel like dealing with the great unwashed of society or enslaved to the train schedule.

Los Angeles may be the best example of how people refuse to ride trains.

I have been on the LA Subway and its very nice...but I couldnt get over the fact I was underground in a bigtime earthquake area.

MadMatt

they are talking about 2 different things. the train from london to paris is not the same as the urban mass transit systems. it is more like amtrak.
what is wrong with being independent and using cars? if you're willing to pay the premiums associated with it, then it's just a different lifestyle choice based on your preference. I live in the burbs of philly and take the train all the time, but there are times where I don't feel like dealing with the great unwashed of society or enslaved to the train schedule.

The biggest problem is that there aren't enough efficient mass transit systems available. Outside of major cities, public transportation systems are largely a joke.

However, mass-transit systems could deal with serious improvements in most cities too.

Ok then that makes you officially the first person I've met that has taken the subway out here. It may be the worst line in America. Doesn't connect to the airport, doesn't go to Santa monica, and has no plans to expand along the 405. Sweeeeet planning!

That's what Ron is saying. You're free to take either. Most cities in this country you have no choice but to take your car. I grew up in the DC area which is somewhere where you are really stuck taking your car, and it is not a great lifestyle.

According to Back to the Future Part III (1990), the clock in the clock tower started running at 8:00 p.m. on September 5, 1885. The date is provided by the caption on the photograph that Doc Brown gives Marty at the end of Back to the Future Part III (1990). The time is provided by the mayor in Back to the Future Part III (1990), who starts it. The lightning strikes the clock tower at 10:04 p.m. on November 12, 1955. This means that the clock tower operated for exactly 70 years, 2 months, 24 days, 2 hours, and 4 minutes.
