what's wrong with hits? does music have to be something no one's ever heard of to be cool?

The hits are like mustard on a BLT, stupid.

No, but it's frustrating that Rock radio has been playing some of the same songs, 3 times a day, for fifteen years! Christ in a spider-hole, if I hear "In Bloom" or "Been caught Stealing" and those fucking dogs one more time, I'm going to rip my ears out...

Seriously? how many times does Nirvana and Greenday appear on that playlist? that's over what, 3 hours?

What annoys the fuck out of me is that there's much better music out there, that could potentially become "hits" that radio won't play, because they're too busy playing "Self Esteem" or "Vaseline" for the 95th time this week.

This is why G-rock (southeast Jersey) is a much better station than K-rock (though they still play those awful songs, just not quite as mind-numbingly often) and I'm pissed that there's no comparable station in the Philly area.

It's frustrating because there is simply no alternative to this kind of format on "free radio" unless you live near a college. It's depressing that the any rock or oldies or rap or whatever station sounds exactly the same as any other radio station throughout the country that has the same theme.

Nobody's saying "hits" stations are a bad thing...just that having them as the only option sucks and is incredibly boring.

Philly recently got an alt-rock station that the people have been raving about, saying it's better than WMMR.

104.5... formerly "Alice" and "Sunny" - and ironically, it's WRFF.

I'm aware of it, it's ok, definitely plays some good stuff every now and again, but saying a rock station is better than MMR is like saying, "hey, this cake tastes better than dog shit!" I think MMR was better at some point in the past, like 5-6 years back, but these days it sounds like the "All Zepplin, all the time" station...

I have high hopes for 104.5, but still whenever I hear Sublime, Oasis or Nirvana these days, I want to plunge my car into the Schuylkill...

...ok, more than normally, anyway.
