Didn't see Paul create a thread for it so here goes my thoughts.

I saw the remake of 3:10 to Yuma today. I'm not a fan of remakes but seeing the cast of Bale and Crowe (who I think is a fantastic actor) made me curious. I have to say, I was impressed. Lately I've been on kind of an old-school (40s, 50s, 60s) Western kick because my On Demand has a shit load of them, and this is an old school Western. Awhile ago there was a thread about where actors like Robert Mitchum have gone and Bale/Crowe can easily carry that mantle. It's not some deep movie, it's mostly an Action Western but I definitely recommend it especially if you like those older Westerns.

Also, Ben Foster is such a great underrated young psychopath.

This movie is absolutely fantastic...it seperates itself enough from the orignal that both can be enjoyed as two very unique and well made films. Ben Foster really does hold his own with two of the best actors going together...kids has been fantastic ever since he screamed "I'M NOT RETARDED!!! I'M SPECIAL!!!" and then broke his arm on Freaks & Geeks.

I never saw the original but I saw the new version over the weekend and thought it was pretty good.

I also thought Ben Foster kind of stole the spotlight in his role. If the Jonah Hex movie ever actually gets made he could fill that role pretty well.

I think i read somewhere that they were making a Jonah Hex movie. Never really followed Jonah Hex but it'd think I'd be good. I think i first heard about him in the Batman Animated Series; they did a story with him in it. And recently i found out that he's been around for a while.

I kinda like this fall line-up of movies. Very Western. Even though, I don't know a lot about No Country For Old Men, it looks like a modern western.

Lou thought it was a pretty solid movie until the ending, where all character development was thrown aside and the characters' actions made no sense whatsoever.

I personally thought the characters' actions were justified enough for my satisfaction. I couldn't help it but I kept thinking throughout the movie that he was still Eli and retarded playing a Cowboy. Freaks & Geeks was the best.

I remember Ben Foster in this ABC show called Flash Forward that had the mechanic chick from Firefly. But, he was great in the pilot of Freaks & Geeks. Whenever I talk to friends they ask 'what other movies has that go been in' and i know they don't know about Freaks and Geeks and other movies so I alway have to say X-men 3, playing stupid Angel.

He seems to be pretty badass now. I'm kinda a fan. Same thing with Joseph Gordon Levitt

Just saw it today. Ben Foster almost if not, stole the movie from the two leads. And i wouldn't call myself a western fan at all because i havent seen many but i appreciated Peter Fonda as Byron.

Worth it, liked it a lot.

ben foster was the movie, bale and crowe were just forgettable.

and why did bale's son remind me of christian slater?

i think the hype killed this movie for me, and the end was just meh.

i love westerns, i love the anticipation, but this thing i don't know, if it weren't for foster i don't think i would've enjoyed it at all.

it's just been a really forgettable year of movies for me...probably cause the only indie theatre was closed for renovations and I've been forced to sit through shit all summer.

Saw the movie last night and thought it was fantastic.

And while I agree that Ben Foster did a great job, all I kept picturing was him as Russell on Six Feet Under, so it took me out of the movie a little bit.

We don't have many better actors that Christian Bale and Russell Crowe right now. These guys are consistently great.

Not a big fan of Crowe, but I usually enjoy Bale, and love westerns. So I FINALLY netflixed this one.

This movie was quite good, although Crowe's actions at the end made little sense to me.
Is that what happened in the original?

Dont think I ever saw Ben Foster before, but yeah, his role was the shit.

I guess my only problem is that they never found a way to make you despise Crowe. His character had too many likeable traits, and most everyone we saw him kill, he had a 'decent' reason to kill them. I found more reason to dislike Bale from the start because after Crowe treated him and his boys as nicely as he could under the situation of their meeting, Bale turned on him.

Also, 2 hot women. Not even a side tit.
