Let's assume that due to an intelligence failure on the alien homeworld they come to believe that we possess WMDs (Weapons of Milky-Way Destruction) and view us as a threat to their security. They send a fleet of star destroyers over and lay waste to our planet. It turns out that there were no WMDs afterall, and the intelligence that they had was simply about Nintendo working on the next generation Wii.
So, the mildly embarrassed aliens decide to bug out due to low approval ratings for the war back home. Meanwhile they have pretty much bombed our planet back to the dark ages. It will be hundreds and hundreds of years before we are able to work our way back to our current status. However, one of the aliens takes pity on you and offers to take you, and anyone willing to go with you, back to their planet.
So, here's the question: Do you stick it out with your fellow men here on the decimated earth (let's say there is no radioactivity) or do you go with the aliens? Once there you will live like a king and have everything you have now except that you'll pretty much be like a pet to them. Maybe they'll even put you in a zoo exhibit ala Twilight Zone.
