and i guess it is kind of cult like, but you can apply that mentality to any sports fans, or people that are really into their jobs, or like a certain kind of car. i think the word is just so overused.

I think from a true social and anthropology view, we're not. There are subsects of us who crave validation from the focus of their social group's attention, and there are those who are chastised and derided from having views differing from the group's "norm", but I don't think we're a cult in the truest sense of the word.

I think it's more of a clique with groupthink tendencies.

People (my friends) dont understand the love i have for the board or the people on it. I dont think they ever will. This term has been used in conversations as well as discussions. I dont think its a cult whatsoever.

Is it wrong to hang out with people who have a mutual admiration for Ron and fez?

Is it wrong to let these people into your lives because you have so much in common and have a great time with one another?

I think the answer is no. We all come together to enjoy the show, enjoy other topics, enjoy the goofs and above all enjoy the friendships.

Well, it's better than the full explanation (which I gave my parents and to this day makes me cringe.)

"OK. There's a radio show. Called Ron and Fez. It's a guy who's kind of like a really, really mellow Sam Kinison and a neurotic gay guy, kind of like Paul Lynde crossed with Grizzly Adams. Anyway, I used to intern for the station they work at, and I still maintained some connections with people there. I then did a couple of stunt-type stuff for them..."

Mom: "You did what?"

Me: (realizing I never told them about the Big Ass Night of Fights) "Uh, nothing. Anyway, I went to their Halloween party, where Joey had brought Liz as his date."

Dad: "And what's Joey's connection to the show?"

Me: "He calls in a lot. And they sent him to the prom with a girl who cuts herself. They paid for the limo and dress and stuff."

Mom: "That was around the time you were hanging out with that... woman. Wasn't it."

Me: "Yeah."

Mom: "OK, so what happened."

Me: "Well, Liz and I met and we had a good time and we talked a good portion of the night. And then I left with someone else."

Mom: "You did what?"

Me: (flinching at the memory) I know, I know.

Liz: He gave me a wrong email address anyway.

Mom: "So how did you find him?"

Liz: I kind of stalked him through a website.

Mom: "You did WHAT?"

Me: "Oh crap. Mom, do you remember my friend Jeff? The one I helped move?"

Me: "Ok, he owns a website. That's a fansite dedicated to the show. It's kind of like an online community."

Mom: "So you met through the internet?"
