Yesterday he was on O&A, and today he went on Stern, and told the same exact jokes word for word. He was even crowbarring some of them in there just to get them out. Why bother showing up if you are going to just do a routine.

The first 5 or 10 minutes of the stern interview with DL was pretty good. I didnt hear him on O&A but I think when you go on a media tour hitting shows and even in tv, they recycle the same stories & jokes. Im sure DL was somewhere else doing the same routine on other shows prior to being on O&A as well.

I saw Van Halen once in DC. Sammy Hagar told us we out rocked every other city on the tour.
Then I caught the same tour in Boulder a few weeks later and it was the exact same show. Every thing that I thought was "spontaneous" in DC were staged and duplicated word for word and step for step. Oh and on that night Boulder out rocked every other city on the tour...

That's not right. Up in your room...doing the same jokes over and over. It's just not right!

They say that in Delaware? Yep, it has to be scripted. :devil2:

Just listening to him on O&A it was apparent he was scripted.

Not a surprise, for the most part it's a different audience. He still has a product to promote, it was funny, so go ahead.

He woke up?

Odd sentiment, his Def Jam stand up was amazing back in the day. His routine has been kinda weak since (kings of comedy?)but he's still always hilarious when he does letterman or any live talk show. I'm a fan.

As far as it being canned, sure some jokes are but he was still entertaining outside of that. It would be impossible to do a media tour without prep material.

I dunno, I've always thought he was an average comedian and pretty forgettable. There's many worse and many better.

I can agree with average for the last long while but I'l always respect him because he owned the DefJam crowd in it's prime. Same goes for Marnnn Laawncccce. No matter how many soul planes and black knights, I know it's just for the money.

i hate DL
and i'm downloading yesterdays show now just cause you said he was on it.
just to see how un-funny he was.

and to be honest everyone does that, if you go see a comic in one city, do you expect a new act in the next? if so you'd be very disappointed.

No, but usually on shows like Stern & OA, they manage to get those guys out of the script and pull them to a different direction, but its apparent now that neither show was able to get a "true" interview with him, no matter how hard they tried.

I do stuff a a punk rock/hardcore venue in Wilmington - if I did it at the bottle & cork, my body count would be a lot higher then the current one.

Well at least you didn't do that lame ass Waynes World quote that every ham & egger does when the state of Delaware is mentioned.

I remember clearly that Opie and Norton were steering the interview, bringing up all the same stuff I've already heard before n-word, imus etc.... DL didn't force one issue, if he ran over the same topics that wasn't his fault.

Every comedian does it. O&A like to call out comedians who try to shoe horn in bits that they prep for interviews.

The week before the PNC show, Louis CK was on O&A and the topic of airports came up. Louis started talking about a Cinnabon after arriving at the destination airport. That Saturday night, he did the same bit on stage.

not to mention Tracey Morgan has "off the cuff" told the wife dressing up like a girl scout and selling cookies on O&A at least 4 times, and many other interviews.

still funny, although not as much the second time around

Shit. You want to watch a guy do something word for word. See Bob Saget's set. Yes it is funny, especially if you never seen it before. But there are parts where Bob is supposed to be winging it and making comments to people in the front area you cant see. Well after you see the set, buy the DVD, watch it on HBOC, and watch something go word for word.

Bothe PNC sets he has done and his HBO special. I will never want to see Saget again. For Dl, I have never found him funny. I thought the whole interview was a joke anyway, but whatever, dont wanna piss off the pests.

The only time I ever found DL really funny was when he used to host Comic View on BET and get into it with the hecklers. I thought he was pretty fast and funny at that. I always thought his stand-up was OK at best.

i've seen jimmy a couple times and it is basically the same routine...but as long as you laugh who really gives a shit. i thought DL was funny and i dont listen to stern so i dont have to hear him do it again.
