The Foo Fighter's new album ECHOES, SILENCE, PATIENCE & GRACE (http://www.foofighters.com/news.php?passedMonth=07&passedYear=2007) is coming out tomorrow. Anyone else looking forward to this?

I read a review in Entertainment Weekly that calls the new album "a perfect album (http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20057889,00.html)" and gave it an "A." I've heard the first single "The Pretender" and like it alot.

Love the Foo Fighters

Some day they will say that Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters was also in an earlier band. Its getting close

I've never been a huge Foo Fighters fan, but I dl'ed this album a couple of weeks ago and it is very good. The Pretender is one of my favorite songs to come out this year, and the rest of the album is just as good.

Hated the last album...

Why do bands make double albums of shitty songs that can be whittled down to one?

i.e. The Foo and The Chili Peppers.

My hopes aren't high for this one...hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised.

I think for the most part they are trying something artistically. If they wanted to sell more they would most definitely only sell a single CD. Whether most Double work or not is a matter of opinion, but I think for the most part the intentions are good.

I think we're already there. He's already been in Foo Fighters much longer than he was in Nirvana and has much more of an identity now.

Now just waiting to see if he does another PROBOT album...

this album leaked a few weeks ago, i have been enjoying it. Between this and Springsteen's Magic, i havent been listening to much else (outside of 202)

Cue sailor saying that this is just me trying to be "different" or "cool," but the Foos really turned me off in recent years. The music they make isn't bad at all...it's just become incredibly generic and predictable. I still love the first 3 albums, but eeverything since, to me, just all runs together. I wish Grohl would do more work as a drummer instead at this point.

The lovely Rolling Stone issue that is currently residing on my coffee table gave it two and a half stars out of five. However, they also gave Frank Black's new album a fairly mediocre review, so that goes to show how trustworthy they are. I don't think I've bought a Foo Fighters album since The Colour and the Shape. I liked that one when I bought it, but I don't think I've heard it in close to ten years.

Also, it is Rolling Stone. If a band isn't unheard of, British, or shitty, they don't like it.

You mean to tell me that you're questioning the credibility of an adult music magazine that puts Zac Efron on the cover? Nonsense.

Are you sure you're talking about RS? They haven't broken or propped up an "unheard" band in decades. Their reviews and coverage totally play it safe. The only things I see them give rave reviews to is anything jam band-y or that they can tie in to a classic 60's band.

I didn't mean a good unheard of band, I meant a band that was unheard of because they are terrible.

And with the British thing, when the Arctic Monkeys first album came out, RS said it was the greatest album ever released by a British band.

They weren't the only ones who said that. There was lots of hype surrounding that big bunch of nothing. I don't think there's a music magazine that I can stomach. I keep hearing good things about Mojo, but it's really expensive. I'm too cheap to pay $8 for a magazine.

I can't even remember the last time I re-upped for RS, but I keep on getting it. It must be like 4 years...it's like the never ending subscription. Right now the only music magazine I really look forward to reading is URB and sometimes Paste (even though they are at time a little too "hip" for their own good).

I'm surprised about the mediocre Frank Black review. Generally anyone with "legendary" or sort of legenedary status gets an easy 4 stars. Now, I didn't listen to them but I remember they rated both the Mick Jagger solo album and a new Bob Dylan Album in the top 5 albums of the year. That just doesn't seem possible.

It was the B-side of the Have It All single in Australia. (I googled) Good luck finding a copy.

And last week, my 10 years dead subscription of Rolling Stone spontaneously resubscribed itself in some sort of resurrection miracle.

Trust me, I'm worth every penny.

Actually, the magazine is decent, but it's really redundant. They branch out into some modern coverage, but so much of their content revolves around the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zep and Pet Sounds year after year.

Uncut is a decent British music mag that's more varied and not as insane as the NME or as crusty and aimless as Q.

Check out the Tenacious D albums, he plays the drums there.

Overall I think it is a solid album with the best guitar work on any album they have done. I understand what Mojo is saying. They have formed a mold that they are producing songs out of, but the songs rock so i say keep making them

Same here, I hadn't received it for years and had moved twice since last receiving one. Then all of a sudden I have been getting copies for like 4 months. I must have mispunched a button somewhere or been really drunk.

I prefer the stuff with Probot or QOTSA. The D stuff is fun, but the others you get to hear him rocking his balls off as what he is...one of the greatest rock drummers of all time.

I kinda wish he'd make another Foo album like the first one, where he played pretty much everything. The current band is decent, but pretty unremarkable. When your rhythm section are from Alanis Morrisette's original band and Sunny Day Real Estate, it doesn't quite have the same "oomph."

Alright Mojo you have crossed the line by knocking Sunny Day Real Estate. Diary is one of my favorite albums from back in the day. Not too get too far off topic but I find it hard to believe they call them one of the first emo bands. I think that is horse shit.

Heh, I would, but again, my definition of emo these days applies to a band's fanbase as opposed to the band...for better or for worse, bands like SDR, the Promise Ring, the Get Up Kids and all Jawbreaker kinda are the genesis for the now widespread phenomena of the "emo fan." Not that all fans of those bands fall into that category, mind you...

And I actually like a lot of stuff by all 4 of those bands...my point before was that wanting Grohl to rock out again like he's done in the past isn't really along the lines of anything SDR ever did. Hell, both SDR's drummer and bassist were the rhythm section for the touring of the Foo's first album and the recording of The Colour and the Shape...TCATS has some great songs on there, but the whole thing is definitely a lot quieter than the first album, and they've been keeping the colume down ever since. Some decent rockers still crept in..."Stacked Actors," I'm looking at you for being incredibly awesome...but for the most part, they just don't rock as much as they did on that first album.

It always takes me about 4-5 times listening to an album to really decide whether I like it. And I've listened to the new album about 5 times now, and I do love it. I really like almost every song on the ablum, but love Let It Die, Long Road to Ruin, and Stranger Things Have Happened.

I've never been a huge Foo Fighters fan, but I never really change the channel when their songs come on.

When they released The Pretender, I thought it was a GREAT song. Like one of the better rock songs I've heard in the last 10 years, maybe even more. Now Let It Die is getting radio play, and this song could be even better than The Pretender. There's just this great emotion and life to the song. It really could be top 5 - 10 of songs from the last decade.

The Foo Fighters newest album Echoes, Silence, Patience, and Grace first two songs are flat out phenomenal. If you're a fan of rock music at all and have passed by this album, you really need to check it out.

We already have a thread about this album (http://www.ronfez.net/forums/showthread.php?t=63540), but I think it's an incredible album. I also love the songs "Long Road to Ruin" (best song on the album I think), "Stranger Things Have Happened" and "Home" in addition to the Pretender and Let It Die.
