View Full Version : Do R&F have a right to walkout on XM in protest until XM finishes the "new" studio?

For whatever reason, merger or otherwise the budday's are seemingly indefinitely stuck working in third world studio conditions, Frank's Place. You can't attract A-List celebrites like Ron Wood in a studio like that. There's no reason, permits or otherwise, that the new studio and Opie's lap pool should not be finished by now.
It would suck to miss out on the budday's for the time being, but they deserve much better. Do you think a walkout is warranted?

I think they should come out to xm's studios in Los Angeles. Seems like a nice place to do a show till the studio is ready.

To play Devil's Advocate, why blame XM when it's clearly an issue with the contractors and the workers who are doing the job?
As the story goes, XM had to find a new contractor to re-start studio construction, and because of the building, permits, etc, the construction hasn't gone as smoothly as possible.
I know this post is partially a bit, but it's stuff like this that get others all riled up.

As far as XM goes there can't be any reason other than feet draggin or waiting out the merger. They need to respect the talent more and throw a few more bucks out to get this done.
For riled up part I understand, that wasn't my intent, I was just floating the hypothetical out there of would you be willing to do without your daily dose of R&F for the good of the buddays. For me it would be a tough call.

I really doubt they started the studio with the intention of wainting for the merger to finish. Why even put in the initial money. No walkout, I need all the Ron and Fez I can get.

they truly deserve better than what they have been given! but at the same time, i dont want them to leave because of it (love to listen everyday) and my crazed fear that they might get let go! i cant even think of it . . . . .

While listening to Eddie Trunk yesterday (who uses the bbboys and buddies studio) I think I heard him say he was broadcasing from a new studio.
Sure, here's how it would go:
ehem...
Ron: We're walking out in protest until the new studio is done.
XM: Who the 'f' are you?
Fez: Rude and rude.
XM: Ok, nice to meet you Mr. Rude, Mr. Rude.

not to be an idiot, are people bringing up the merger being the reason for the delay of the new studio because O&A brought it up on air?
It had been my understanding from the very start that it was permit, union, contractor, and building difficulties that led to the delays of the studio. Of course, O&A aren't going to bash unions and/or contractors considering that's a sizable chunk of their fanbase.

They can do whatever they want, but I think if they were to try and do a walkout they would probably lose their jobs. They probably have to work out whatever they are given, whether it is the Frank's Place studio or a closet they're to do whatever they are told.
I agree they deserve so much better and the work they are doing on the studio is taking forever. I don't think the delay is related to the merger at all though and probably more to do with corporate red tape and the contractors. I've been working for about five months at my job to get four desks installed where I work. I've had to deal with different vendors, approvals, corporate approvals, executive approvals, then vendor changes, it's insane for something that takes a day to put in has been months and months of work.

When I built my home the builders were done ahead of schedule and under budget. There were no delays and no "up charges"

CRAP! I had to quote my own post to say that I was WRONG! I should have known it was too good to be true.
Now they are saying Monday is the official unveiling of the new studio.
Oh....I heard on O&A today, that Opie thinks the Buddays should start paying rent for the use of the XM studio now that it has been remodeled.
I don't think Ron will be happy with that.
