How Do I Stop The Pain?

I chipped one of my back molars last week, but because I was going into the hospital for my surgery I didn't schedule a dentist appointment. It's given me occasional pain, but up until now I've been able to stave it off with anbesol and/or painkillers.

Tonight is a completely different story, however. I can only assume that the nerve is exposed, because I've been eating percosets, vicodins, and extra strength tylenols like candy while gargling with anbesol and the pain is still maddening. It's shooting up through my jaw, into my ear, my temple, and my eye.

Any cures out there until I can get to the dentist, or does anyone know if a hospital emergency room treats dental emergencies?

I'm in fucking agony.

sorry for your pain budday. as far as the e.r. i think all theyd do is give ya meds which u say arent working. I dont think theyd do the surgery, altho they may have something stronger. But 1st thing in the am, call your dentist and he'll treat it as an emergency.

just my guess, i dont work in an e.r., just observed a few. good luck budday.

I'm sure an ER visit could deal with the pain, but it might be a problem with all the meds you've already taken. It's worth a shot, though. Maybe they can just shoot some Novocaine in the right spot.

Given the fact that your body is already dealing with some stress (referring to your recent surgery), it might be a good idea to go to the ER. What could it hurt to go?

I just got back...they drilled out the decay and put a temporary filling in. The entire left side of my face is numb and I couldn't be happier.

I'm scheduled for a root canal, post, and crown next week and they quoted me a price of $2,600.00! Is it me or does that sound abnormally high?

Know the feeling dude. Was up in pain for 2 days before my last root canal. F'ers ended up cracking one of my molars while working on it.

Meds are a good thing. Felt like crap (left leg down to the knee on fire) for 3 weeks before the stearoids and pain killers kicked in (herniated 2 discs a few weeks ago. Still limping but NO PAIN!
