I'm not sure if anyone remembers reading a few weeks back that I was jealous about AJDelaware going to school but it got me thinking that I kind of regret not finishing. I'm paying these fuckin' loans & have absolutely fuckin' nothing to show for it & I'm really getting pissed off at work for people w/less experience getting promotions while I'm still sitting there scratching my ass all because I don't have a degree.

So I requested my transcripts 2 weeks ago from Drexel Univ, they arrived yesterday, went today to my local community college & spoke w/ a counselor and they are in the process of figuring out what is transferable. In the meantime, I enrolled in a quick term class, Intro to Business - 10 week class - beginning Oct 10, 1 day a week for 4 damn long hours 8am-11:55am. Ugh! I got to do it though, I can't be picky.

I'm doing this half assed backwards going from a 4-5 yr school to a 2 yr school but whatever I just want something even if its an associates degree to say LOOK! I earned something w/these loans! :wallbash:

I could vomit.

I have a very similar situation. I went back to school after a 13 year absense, and started with a community college. I was then encouraged by the CC prof to go to a 4yr school, which i did. I'm very close to graduating with a BFA w/teaching certificate, i'll be an art teacher (which was always what i wanted to be). I even decided to take a semester overseas in Poznan, Poland (where i'm writing this message from, I arrived yesterday and start the semester at the art academy next week). I did all of this in my mid to late 30's. All I can say to you is "Good Luck", you'll definately appreciate the accomplishment of finishing what you started, no matter how long it took you to get it all done. I admire you, my friend.

I'm in a similar situation and I find it very encouraging to hear that people are making it even if they got off to a late start. I've been going nuts about how I'm getting older and I still haven't gotten a degree- I went from a 4 year to a 2 year. I'd do the 4 year after the 2 year, but I feel that I don't want to be in school beyond a certain age that I'll just say is approaching faster than I want it to. I've been trying to bust that attitude apart but it gets tough sometimes.

I think it is great you are going back! You will probably find you will probably be the smartest person in the class! The teacher will tend to look at you as an "equal" and things will go nicely! This is my second semester back in school after almost 20 years! I am having a great time, plus, my company pays for it if I get an A! Does yours? Is the classes you are taking job related?

Its sooo funny you said this because I remember being 18 & looking at the older people in my class and thinking what the hell are they doing here, I never want to be that old & in school. Plus I'm going to community college now and I remember when I was a senior in high school and telling my father there was no way I was going to this exact school because it was 13th grade & there I was yesterday enrolling in 13th grade. It was hard for me to do it but when I talk to some of the idiots I work with and I find out they have degrees I sit there and wonder what the fuck is wrong with me.

Yep, tuition reimbursement baby! So, I'd be stupid not to do it. Actually, they'll reimburse me a certain % for an A, B, or C. When I went to my old school I majored in communications (I wanted to do sports broadcasting soooo bad) w/a minor in literature. But I'm looking to advance with PS and everything I want to do says I need a degree in business administration so thats what I'm majoring in now.

I'm right with you! I just started back school after being looked over and almost fired at the shitty radio station I work at. Good luck!
