Is it really Hayseed Central like I'm imagining it?

The reason I ask is because I've been hearing this commercial on XM. You get TWO nights lodging for a family of four, show tickets for everyone, breakfast each morning, and dinner each night - all for $99.00 TOTAL.

I don't know - maybe I'm just too used to NYC prices, but I can't imagine the trailer trash that such deals would attract. Is this par for the course for Branson?

Free tickets? Maybe they're to see Yakov! What a country.

Seriously, these are like 1905 prices. I'm considering selling my house and moving out there. With what I could get for my one family home in New Jersey I could build myself a castle on 500 acres of land out there.

I'll bring my superior Northeast money, my superior Northeast sensibilities and my superior Northeast liberal education, and before you know it I'll be running that place - Bartertown style.

"Me order! Me Master! Me run Bartertown!"

I only live a couple hours away from there and I've been more times than I care to admit. Don't fall for the offer; it's more than likely a timeshare. You'll get there and spend your part of your weekend with a salesman yammering in your ear. There are some great golf courses, Silver Dollar City (theme park), a water park, two or three outlet malls and there's beautiful Tablerock Lake. All of that being said Branson is also where country singers go to die. Mickey Gilly has a theatre, Andy Williams has a theatre and Dolly Parton has a place where you watch some kind of horse show (insert joke here) while you eat. The traffic is a nightmare and there are old people everywhere.

Speaking of Dolly Parton, she's running a $99.00 special for two nights. It doesn't say anything about a timeshare. Just crazy. I have trouble feeding my family of four once for $99.00. What are these places like? Are they nice, or are they dives?

I banged an opera singer who moved there to try to become a country star. It's been 14 years, and I haven't heard from her. I'm getting concerned. I think Branson, Mo kills people.

I've never been, but I'm willing to bet $50 that there is at least one store in town that is decorated for Xmas 12 months/year.

I think you should go Judge.

They're generally nice places. In fact some are on golf courses. There are definitely some hayseed aspects to Branson but if you have kids they could/would have a ball. Can you drive there? The nearest airport is in Springfield, maybe an hour away and you'll definnitely need a car while you're in town. Find out what show the tix are for as well; there are certainly some hayseed shows there. Go in the summer or around Christmas if you go. There's a lot to do.

Branson really isn't that bad. And that deal isn't for a timeshare. There are plenty of good deals. You and your wife might be rolling your eyes at times, but the kids will love it.

Never been but thought looked kind of cool:

Also have these "Ducks" car / boats that go from road to lake that the kids will like.

Oh it definitely has the hayseed factor, but there more tourists there than locals but the worse part for me and the wife was the traffic (But nothing compared to major city drive time traffic). It's a pretty nice part of the country. Our son loved it though. If you fly, it would probably be into Springfield, MO.

First best sight gag in that episode. The other was Nelson with a look of love watching Glen Campbell. Or was it Andy Williams? I forget.

I've never been to Branson, but all I ever think of when I hear the name is this scene in The Simpsons. Nice.

Andy Williams -- when he did "Moon River" for an encore.

I like the episode where Charles Bronson has a guest spot on Andy Griffith.

Barney: Where's Otis? He's not in his cell.
Bronson: I shot him.
Barney: Well that's... what?!
Bronson: And now, I'm going down to Emmett's Fix-It Shop. [cocks gun]
To fix Emmett.
