Gratuitous Nudity Gone?

Lately I have been seeing movies from the 80's, especially the early to mid 80's era where there was just nudity. Your zapped's, even the 1st Vacation movie. And sometimes for no apparent reason. What I remember is those scenes are sometimes what made movies just great, but other times they were just in movies where it didnt make sense. Hey there are tits on TV though. So what the hell happened between then and now? Is it me or has these gratuitous type of shots gone away?

in the last 2 years I have been thinking the same thing. it is to the point now where i get suprised when I see some boobs on screen, like in Wedding Crashers.

but you now have movies like knocked up or any of these other shitty romantic comedies and there really should be some boobs in there, and yet there are none

You're right... especially in the prestigious genre known as Bad 80's Horror. Oftentimes, you'll get a nice big set dangling freely in the very FIRST SCENE, just for the hell of it! I think that's because back then, there was such a thing as a low-budget movie. And low-budget movies call for low-budget actors, who are willing to show their tits for a couple extra bucks.

In a world of high-budget, Puritanized movies, it's hard to find titties just for the sake of good old fashioned American fun anymore.

And there's lots on television now. Californication has tons of hot girl nudity. Tell Me You Love Me has a ton of nudity, too.

I wasnt wishing for more movies like Zapped. It is hilarious to watch now, but mainly cause of how cheesy the films were in terms of acting, effects, etc. I am noticing a lot of 80's films on Cable lately (Zapped, Police Academy I, Caddyshack, etc) and I laugh at how bad and cliche those fucking films are. But I notice that almost ALL those films have that scene where chicks just take their tops off. Or someone is watching a chick shower etc. And they seem to be in all the horror and comedy flicks between the mid1970's through the late 1980's.

The point I am making is that, yes there are some films that have scenes like that, but they seem contrived and trying way to hard. But they advertise it nowadays with "and loaded with scenes of so and so we cant show here!!" They didnt do that back then. The bad movie was advertised and we took for granted that their would just be that nudity scene. When I was a kid that rocked. That was like stumbling on a stash of porn mags in the woods. Hell fucking "Running Scared" had a nude scene, and that is a terrible film. And the more I go on about this, the more I wonder if this thread should be located to Old School. Where is Blowhard to further lament on what I am saying here.

i was just going to say the same thing about the under 18 demographic. that's who goes to movies so you're shooting yourself in the foot getting an r-rating. i think the mpaa has gotten stricter with their ratings as well. i was going to say that they cut down on james bond's womanizing to get pg ratings, but all the old ones were pg as well. i would think his escapades would get more adult ratings now-a-days, but i could easily be wrong.

I have a question: Has anybody seen a version of Orgazmo with actual nudity in it? I've bought three copies over the years and they all say "Unrated Director's Cut" or whatever and there's only a half a second of one porn star's tit in them? Am I being hoodwinked?
