I'm sure they will pay no attention to this but at least we can share some songs we like with each other
Ok I'll start: "Surely" by Colin James

If were going with this weeks 80's rock trend then how about for the guys who want mainstream "Ace of Spades" by Motorhead and for the hipsters how about something from the Talking Heads like "Blind" or "Love For Sale".

I'd say, at this point Earl 3 days, PH 2.

80s songs..
ANYTHING Morrissey or the Smiths
Ceremony by New Order (or Age of Consent as suggested by JohnWC)
The Lung by Dinosaur Jr
I tried sorting my iTunes by date but I lack any credible 80s songs! I was only born in 1981 so I have a good excuse.. no one was listening to credible bands until they were at least 10 :)

I thought the posts 'guessing' in the listening threads were suggestions for opening songs, rendering this thread pointless.

Alright, if I had to pick one song that wrapped the 80's up with a bow on top it would be.........China Girl by David Bowie.

Even in the few previous posts, way too many great cuts or genres.
Apart from when there is an over-riding, can't ignore theme ( i thought "life during wartime" was one of the most exciting R+F into's ever, even tho i never much liked the TalkingHeads)....i think that tunes that just a bit out of common knowledge for me are often cool...and i suppose even that is endless.
Then again, that was more relevant about 5+ years ago; maybe today's show/current affairs theme makes more sense now.

How about some Ryan Adams not to be confused with Bryan Adams. Or hell even some Morrisey would be cool.

HowManyfingers I'm with you some Smiths and Morrisey would be great. Good call I missed your post before I left mine.

Last time Earl opened the show with Suedehead about a year ago he was ridiculed for about 15 mins. It was funny but i love that song. This thread IS pointless by the way.

The song that I am going to write into this thread that no producer will ever read is Godstar by Psychic TV (1986). It is a deceptively catchy song about the death of Brian Jones.

You got XM for Pepper Hicks? Sounds a little gay.
Also, while Earl does get into WNEW Earl a lot, he wasn't like that every day.
Finally, that'w why we're calling for a a mix of Earl and Pepper. We don't want 100% of either. I like to hear new stuff sometimes, and familiar stuff others.

I way prefer Pepper-picks over Earl MOR, but i would guess that i'm like many in also being familiar w/ most of pepper's picks as well.
I think a wide variety might work best, even occasionally including a Fez novelty song like todays......and why not an occasional opera, classical or "standard" etc...? .
Also, i think tie-ins to the show (whether from current bits or upcoming) work well.

I'm perfectly happy with having Pepper at the wheel. I like Earl, but his picks have been really shaky over the past six months or so.

I was really hoping Gene Vincent's "Cat Man" was going to make the cut for 50s erocktober, but I think its appropriate for Mr Whatley.
Also, all I can think about after today is cutting a cat open that is pregnant with worms, a la the cutting of the snake in Temple of Doom.
