Im just starting to come out of being depressed.
Been going through some shit the past couple months between work, not working, working, and my fav topic.....family. I was really really bad. Not wanting to do a damn thing, get dressed, shower, leave the house for any reason. It was just weird to me that I was depressed because I used to make fun of situations on TV where the character claimed to be depressed, and I would just say all this person just needed was a good kick on their ass to get them up. In a way I do kind of think that, but Im more simpathetic to it and understand the mentality of it all. Ive learned alot on who I can count on. A few people whom Ive never expected have been there for me above and beyond the call of duty. Once Im really back on my feet 1st thing Im gonna do is take all those wonderful bastards out for a few drinks.
Alls I can tell you is to try and push through it. It will get better. Things will pick up. I don't know what your situation is or the extent of what youre going through, but if you wanna chat lemme know. And really....appreciate what you do have. Try not to dwell alot on the negative aspects and do your best to concentrate on the good things. It will build from there.

I know how you feel bro. Im a bit down my self. Stuggling w/ what I want to do w/ my life and my weight issues. Hmm. Life is all ups and downs. Only place you can go now is up. Me? Im trying to think more positive and when I say i'm going to do somthing, I do it. Sometimes, even the smallest strides, can help. Music sometimes makes me feel better too. Nothing like rockin out to your favorite song/artist.

My 2 part plan is THE method for kicking the blues.
Regardless if this current bought of depression is the result of some tawdry whore that stomped on your heart or your weight or even your career path not being where you want to be; you've come a long way in facing the fact that you are down. The first thing you need to do is FORCE THE ISSUE. In other words, force yourself out of this. You put yourself here, now get the hell out of it. The best way------Booze and cigars. Do yourself a favor and draw a nice hot bath, poor yourself a tall cool Jack-n-Coke, light a heavy gauge cigar with a nice whack and stew in your own juices for about 45 minutes. If it helps, light a candle or two and put on your favorite album. I might suggest some Booker T and the MG's or the Meters, 'Rejuvenation' album. That may sound crazy, but enjoy yourself---who gives a fuck, right? Don't think about anything else while you are in there except what you are going to do to get your life back in order. What better way than with a regal act of enjoying a nice cigar :thumbup: some nice whiskey.
Part 2 of the plan is a little cliché but I believe in it; REPLACE something with something else. In this case, the depression. Learn how to play the guitar, pick up a fun and relaxing outdoor activity like fishing, go meet a hot chick with your brand new running shoes or bike. The point is-----get out of yourself and start fresh, take on some new habits and get on it. You can either sulk and be down or kick the world in the dick and be up. You decide.
Good luck, Bro.

Hey bro, I feel ya. I was pretty bummed this past summer but you gotta realize that times maybe shitty now, tomorrow is a different day. Seriously. Also believe things do happen for a reason and it's usually for a good reason. It's always hard to gauge how long shitty times will last but get through it bro and you'll be alright. You can also take a page from a sales book I read in which it said that if you find yourself in a rut, create a more positive atmosphere for yourself. The last thing you wanna do is turn to pills, drugs or alcohol. You see what that shit is doing for Fez and pills ain't the answer. They don't work. Find whatever faith you want, believe things will be better tomorrow and create a better atmosphere for yourself. You'll be alright.

Exercise, man! For real, just get on a plan of some kind. I drank and drank all summer, felt even worse. I've been going to the gym for about two months now, mainly lifting weights, but recently i've gotten into the cardio habit, and I feel better than I have in ages.

I agree with the exercise suggestion. I started taking mixed martial arts classes in July and I've never been so non depressed. Depression never creeps in my mind when I know there is a class to go to.

It's pretty much all been said, all good advice. I've had a case of the blues lately myself. No real reason. One of the best fixes is laughter. Ya gotta laugh. I came home late last night after another unspectacular workday. Felt shitty. I had a few beers and then clicked on RonFez.net. I found myself on a thread that after awhile had me laughing so hard, my shitty day was history. I hope you find peace of mind.

I think mods frown on suggesting this type of thing. This forum is for serious issues and require serious responses.

Thanks for straightening me out fella. I never intended to focus my post on my own experiences. But regretfully, it happened. It's all about trying to help Jauble. The issue itself isn't funny.

Steer clear of Effexor; apparently it has some side effects.
