After a boring thirteen hour shift yesterday at my freelance A/V job at NYU, I walked down Sullivan Street toward my parked car thinking only about how tired and hungry I was and how much traffic I was going to hit on my drive back home to New Jersey.

When I spotted a note tucked under my windshield wiper, I immediately cringed thinking it could only be some sort of bad news to cap off my day.

My cringe was immediately replaced with a broad grin as I read the message. Here's what it said: "I miss Soundboard Fez. He was the best. O and A party rock."

Obviously, a fellow fan spotted my "Spread the Iris" bumper sticker (Thanks, Crazy Jen.) and felt compelled to share the mutual joy of being a Ron and Fez fan. I was a beautiful gesture and brought me a dose of happiness that lasted for the rest of the day.

I would be curious to hear other stories of Ron and Fez fans who, without prior introduction, have recognized mutual fans and had some sort of encounter.

That's a great story! I'd be inspired to do the same if I ever saw a bumper sticker.

If they are a ron and fez fan, why did they sign it with a Master Po sign-off from O&A?

mine isn't quite as cool as yours... but here goes:

I have a small magazine store in the same building that my office is in. During breaks I like to walk over and flip through comics or magaizines or something... Just to break up the monotiny.

So one day, 2-3 months ago, I was flipping through Toyfare Magazine (hilarious magazine for those of you not familiar) and saw R&F listed in their monthly "cool things this month" type section... there was a picture of Mr B and a smiling Fez Marie... definitely made my day

Since then, I have been spreading the word on 202... even giving friends access to my online xm account so they can listen at work like i do

Ex-girlfriend (from Arizona, pre-XM) tells me her father is an alcoholic.

My response, trying to lighten the mood: "Don't make him a bad person."

Ex girlfriend: "Do you listen to Ron and Fez?"

And when you said "yes I'm matty fridays" she never spoke to you again?

It's funny you should say that, for some reason, I never told her of my participation with the show. I think this was about 2 months after BANOF2.

I was at LAX a few months ago waiting for my flight when I heard two guys in the bar talking about ron and Fez. I was pretty excited to hear other people talking about the show and I wanted to acknowledge my love of the show. So what did I do? Did I show them my Whatley Posse sticker? Did I buy them a beer and start talking about the show?

Nope, I paid my bill and left the bar, fuck those guys.

on my way to my first event ( the big ass bash) I was on the LIRR with my friend krista. I recognize a local hardcore kid, tom sitting in the same car. We get to talking and he asks me why I'm going into the city. I tell him I'm going to a big party at the hard rock cafe because I'm too embarrassed to get into whole long explanation. So he looks up at me with big excited eyes and asks "You're going to the big ass bash?!" I was seriously stunned that he was a budday. Whenever I run into him out here we always have shit to talk about now.

Two:

On our honeymoon, at the wax museum, some dude wanting to take DAVES pic.

and then just the other day, we were walking strummer in my small hometown of mount kisco when some dude nearly wrecked so he could yell "EAST SIDE DAVE" out of his moonroof.

Both times, to humble him... I reminded him that our cable bill was 2 months overdue.

Oh wait, on a plane I was seated next to a guy who recognized dave and said he was the worlds biggest ron and fez fan ( I assure you he wasn't). Then gave ME a full rundown of everything he liked and disliked about my wedding, while dave pretended to sleep.

He also said that Happy Typing Girl was a really pretty black girl.

MADE THE TRIP!

There aren’t two many R&F fans in New Orleans, but I still wear my Ronnie B shirt with the hopes of someone knowing what “I got my own radio show” means.

I've encountered many casual R&F listeners."Those guys are pretty funny" But only 1 or 2 real fans.
It helps that 1 have 3 shirts in rotation.

I wear my Whatley Posse shirts out around Boston all the time, but never run into any fans.

Someone usually tries to discuss the picture on the shirt like its the original OBEY sticker.

Only when donning the Whatley posse shirt do I get anyone mentioning R&F show. And even then most people don't have a clue. Sometimes its just "oh yeah, ron and fez, they're pretty funny, but I love that [insert worst morning zoo ever] show...they're wacky!"

Okay, I got one...

Being a relative noobie to the show I was bragging about it anywhere and everywhere. Well, about six months ago I was soaking in this gin mill, The Triangle (I think they changed the name of it now) in Stonington, Illinois, with one of my best friends who just got XM. I told him he had to listen or record Ron & Fez, it was just his kind of humor. All the sudden the barmaid overheard me and started chuckling, after further probe we had a nice long chat and I had found a budday...

Any buddays in Central Illinois may be able to find me in the Knotty Pine

I was wearing my Whatley Posse shirt last summer while walking around Louisville. A guy is walking towards me and has a big smile on his face, then says to me, "that is an awesome shirt." Stunned, I asked him if he listened to Ron and Fez and he replied, yes.

In my near 2 years of owning that shirt and wearing it quite regularly, that is the only encounter I've ever had.

Slug from the group Atmosphere saw me wearing the shirt one day and asked me about it, but I don't think he had heard of RnF.

I've never randomly encountered another fan, and i assume it will only be more difficult down here in southern florida now. but early last summer i was going to the reservation in essex county with a good friend of mine to walk her dog after work. while we're in her car she had the radio chick on, this was with the FreeFM line-up, and was complaining about how nobody ever disagrees with the Chick. I said to her, 'do you ever listen to the guys on after her?' to which she replied, 'I LOVE ron & fez'. We had been really good friends for 2 years and i never knew she listened. that was as close to a random encounter as i've gotten.

I've had one fan spotting and 2 encounters:

About 6 months ago at my job in Rye, NY I noticed a car with the Whatley Posse bumper sticker in the parking lot. I was like, "ohh cool..." Then the next day I saw the car again, so obviously it was an employee. The next week I happen to spot him getting into his car so I walked over and introduced myself and we chatted for a bit about the show and he knew who I was. It was pretty neat. I tried to convince him to join rf.net not sure if he ever did.

Second encounter is a friend of mine, her husband plays hockey with a guy who listens to both shows. Her husband knew I listened to RF so he introduced me to him. He asked me if I hang out with RF and go to events and when I told him who I was, he was like all shocked...........it was uncomfortable.

Next was when we were in the airport in Barcelona, Spain about to get onto a plane for Paris, I noticed a guy walking off the plane with a Whatley Posse shirt on. By the time I could say Ron and Fez rule he was gone. I bet that's the only international RF fan spotting!

Recently I had to have a prostate exam. Right before the exam the doctor was trying to gauge my fear level. I told him "Its ok there's seven dicks in my ass but theres always room for eight". He was like "Hey, you listen to Ron and Fez?" I was shocked twice that afternoon.

On separate occasions, I've encountered Perrynoid and Monica. Perrynoid saw my Whatley Posse sticker, and Monica saw my Cosmic Circus sticker. In the Perrynoid case, the car he was in pulled up behind mine when I pulled into my driveway. In the Monica case, she pulled up next to me on a straight stretch of road.

Every once in a while I see a WOW sticker, but I never see any other R&F stickers. I carry around a few extra Posse stickers. If I ever see a car with another R&F sticker I plan to put a Posse sticker under their windshield wiper.

I have an obey Fez sticker on my flight kit as well as a WOW sticker. Unfortunately no one ever knows what the hell the Fez sticker is. I did see a guy wearing a Whatley Possey T-Shirt in the Dulles Airport one day though. I was rushed and didn't have time to say hello though (still pissed at not saying somthing though).

I ran into Sherrod Small (comic who is on Best Week Ever) around the Comedy Cellar and was listening to R&F on my inno.

We started talking for a minute and he asked what I was listening to. When I told him Ron and Fez he immediately went from "celebrity talking to a fan" to "regular excited buddy" and we started talking about how much he loves Fezzie and how the "gay gimmick will make him laugh no matter what mood he's in" and how Ron is a genius.

I asked him why he doesn't do the show, or O&A (since they have more comics in on a regular basis) and he said that the current comic friends of the show are the "older generation" and hopefully he will be on future Virus tours or step up once some of the older guys step down.

He then proceeded to tell me that the only piece of free ass Patrice ever got was because of a girl he hooked him up with after banging her.

Pretty cool guy.

I don't think I've ever had a random encounter with a R&F fan.

I've encountered a couple O&A fans, once at a bar and once at a party. Both times the ID was Jimmy related, "frrrrrunkis" and something I don't remember. I tried to preach to them the gospel of R&F.

I've seen a couple WOW stickers, including someone who lives in my neighborhood, but haven't seen them yet.

I went out to a happy hour with my work, and was talking to the HR guy.

A friend of mine at work HAD to mention to him that I got engaged on the radio, so he was asking me about it.

I changed up the story to remove embarrassing internet references, and was telling him how we went to DC, blah blah. Some big biker ass dude was sitting next to us and turned around and was like "YOU ARE ANGRYMISSYBABY". It was so fucking embarrassing. Thank god the HR guy was cool. Luckily Mr. Biker Guy was on his way out. I just told the HR guy "do you really want an explanation for that? Didn't think so"

I have a big white "Ron and Fez" on my flight kit that I got over at FBA's store. Everyone always asks "Who are Ron and Fez?" Only once did it ever get a mention, it was from a Captain from another airline in line at security in Raleigh once. He just pointed and said "nice!" and that he used to listen on WNEW.

When I was in Maui last November I was wearing my Obey Fez shirt and a couple from NYC saw me on the beach asked if that was "Fez from the Ron and Fez show". I told them yes and they asked how or where I had heard of the show. Turns out that they had been big fans of the show on WNEW but they were unaware that the show was back on the radio. They seemed genuinely pumped that the show was back and that it was available on XM. After that we went to the bar at the resort and had a half dozen mojitos each but I can't seem to remember their names now.
