Pretty obvious and to the point. I'm approaching an anniversary and i was trying to think of some thing(s) to do on that particular day. Maybe within the price range of $300.

K.I.M: We're both 22 and are not particularly grandiose in our social activities. Though i would like this to be just a bit nicer than the norm because of the occasion. The day is a Thursday so that might affect our options.

Thanks!

AC Hotels During Suin-Thurs are Dirt Cheap, can get a nice Hotel Room for Under $100

the Rest can be used on a Nice Dinner and Some Gambling

If not the AC type, go up to the Poconos, it is slow season and you can get a nice room and do something like Mount Airy Loge,. Its a tad corny but can be fun.

There is also Cape May which is nice......

if not looking to go overnight, then I will come up with other options

It could technically be an overnight thing, if we leave Wednesday after classes so that could work.

I've never been to anywhere like that and those are the kinds of ideas i'd like to hear more of, just getting away for the night and relaxing that entire day/doing something fun.

I am a big fan of a nice dinner out and doing something together we enjoy - anything really, as long as we get some time together and get to relax a little.

Of course we have a 2 1/2 year old, so simple, quiet things have taken on a new joy for us.

Spinning off of KHB's idea, what about the beach? It is the off-season, hotel rates are cheap, and the weather is still really warm in the North East (especially for October). You can even mix that in with a trip to AC, but I would go to a beach like Brigantine that is a little off the "beaten path."

Of course you might not be "beach people" in which case you can ignore my post. :bye:

there is an awesome place to eat seafood, if you like it, called Mud City nestled deep in the swamps of Manahawkin. Its a small local place (the tourists dont know about it), but there is still usually a wait- even off season.
that tells ya something.

thats right off 72 (exit 63 gsp)

Alright i guess i have to be more specific.

This will be towards the end of November(as i said one week to the day after Thanksgiving). We both work and/or have c;lass all week and weekend so we really only have Wednesday from 5pm until Thursday late night as a time slot.

We are not beach or casino people. More of the cold weather nature type. We don't really have any chances to "get away" even if it is for a night. We'd much much be in calm, quiet environments than let's say the city.

I also loathe seafood and don't find the shore to be a getaway since i live on it.

I haven't been there, but I know a lot of my friends have stayed overnight in New Hope and say it's a great time.

Ahh I should go and check out New Hope for the day. I use it plenty as an excuse to get out of stuff, like "Oh I'd love to be there, but I'll be in New Hope".

I have been on the Poconos website for over an hour now and i am still clueless.

I started out looking at B&B's and then Country Inns, now Spas. I just want someplace with maybe a fireplace, without any children, horseback riding and stuff like that.

Well that seems pretty nice and affordable, which makes me bummed that it's only a one night deal.

I found a place in the Poconos so now it's between these two. I'll see what the bof thinks.

Thanks a bunch!

Thats just tooo long of a drive..What is it exit 1 or 4 on the GSP? Anything that has an exit of 1 seems so long to get too.

Well no problem. And I know that the place in Spring Lake should be closer then the one in PA. So it would give you two more time together and less time for the trip.

A cool place in the poconos is Skytop Lodge. It has all that you asked about and more. It really is an awesom place but it may be up there in price. I believe they have the hot air ballon race going on around then too. Not sure though.

Here's a suggestion on a resort I golf at a lot. They've added a ton, have an awesome horse riding trail, is much cheaper if you search things out, and is definitely closer....yet away from it all as it seems you'd like. All you need to do is go up rt. 23 north and your there. The spa is free with a ton of the packages and it's a beautiful, scenic place. Take a look, as they have tons of special romantic packages that aren't over the top, but simply cool. The Spa and Stay is more your price, and remember there are a ton of nice restaurants that are cheap up there so the romantic package with the 7 star rest isn't really needed. At $165 per night, you should be good and close enough that it won't take 4 hours to get there and back. The Grand Cascades is really new so I suggest the Minerals at this point and they have better packages. Also, I suggest calling up and working it out with an operator as they know how to work the deals and may know some new ones not listed. I'm a rewards card member up there for golf and ski, so ask if "your brother" could book it for you on his card so that you get the discount. If that's ok, I'll book it on my card and you'll save 10-25% on top of it all as well. If you go this route and it's possible, just send me a pm.
