I just got turned in to the President of my company because of internet usage at work by our pussy CIO. I had XM Radio Online (listening to R&F because my satelite wouldn't work) on and looked at my fantasy football site... The kicker is I am at a remote warehouse location of our companies where I am the only one who uses the internet all day...
Just two weeks ago IT deleted because they are incompetant two years worth of emails I have received... and couldn't figure out how to undelete them... but they have the ability to tell exactly how long I was on a f'ing website from a remote location?
This is just another in a long list of things the jackasses in my IT department have done.... including w*bs*nce and not allowing remote connection from non-company facilities.
Our IT department, specifically the coward CIO who couldnt warn me before he went to our prez, need to suck a drippy AIDS dick.

I want to send the CIO a card that says thanks for snitching... anyone know where to get one? Maybe a t-shirt?

Have you tried the all-too-impossible method of actually working while you are at work?

Wow I knew there had to be someone saying that shit... probably someone who works in IT...
I over-sold my goals this year by a million dollars - and I have four more months to go. I am awesome at my job.
I just like to listen to Ron and Fez for three hours a day while I do paperwork.
That don't make you a bad person.

That blows. My last job blocked xmonline and this site for a few weeks once. I ended up just getting a Nexus. That is lame that the guy couldn't say something to you first.

hahahahaha I love seeing the rat. So funny to turn the corner and see that dingy old inflatable rat in front of a work site.
I know that it shouldn't be funny, but it is.

if it was an IT guy, i'd pull somebody aside and say, just ease up on the surfing a bit.
i see it as kind of like a courtesy flush.

Exactly. It sounds like you have a poorly run department Budday. I am sorry to hear that.
Not all of us IT Folk are bad though - hell, I listen to XM online every day. I use an earbud, don't bother anybody, and get all of my work done without issue.
Are you in an environment where you can go to the President yourself to "defend" your internet usage? Minor surfing during breaks is really no biggy, and streaming music/talk shouldn't be an issue as long as there aren't any rules specifically prohibiting it. Use your sales results to your advantage.

i think i've posted 80% of my posts from work but the reality is 'work is for work' and when the bossman says no more 'radio streamin' and 'instant messaging' etc etc, then there isn't much you can do but deal with it or find a new job

It's most likely because the XM Stream is using up too much bandwith or some crap. They really locked down on streaming music here at my job because it was taking up too much resources.
Luckily since I work at home most of the time, I just have my personal computer right next to my work one.

You might want to try this, your boss might not even care about the streaming. When I first started at my current job, the former HR bitch decided to call up my boss and say I was coming in 15 minutes late every day. My bosses response was "why the hell should I care as long as her work gets done".

I am not worried about losing my job - but because he took it to the President (who I know very well) - it has to go in my file - and obviously could effect my bonus.
There is no problem with bandwith at my off-site location as I am the only one who uses the internet there. They have it for me specifically...
I am upset he couldnt call my boss... or me... or my boss' boss... Anything but the top guy would have been better. I just find it unbelieveable someone would do that. It almost makes me want to search our code of conduct and how things need to be reported, because I would imagine he violated some rules by doing what he did.
I think this guy just is a snitchy bitch who loves to run to the President any time he can.
Thanks for the support - I really needed somewhere to vent.

On a side note - I heard today they are interested in me moving to Atlanta or Charlotte now because they think there aren't enough accounts for me to handle here in Texas.
I wouldn't mind moving, Dallas sucks, but you know this internet BS had something to do with it. It may even be used against me if I said I didnt want to move.
Also, I did get a chance to defend myself because the Prez called to bitch at me intially when he heard about it. It doesn't erase the guy snitching, but it is nice to work somewhere that I can defend myself.
My actual boss said he didnt care at all, but he doesn't dole out the bonus...

I'm with ya Mike. I am an IT guy and I do that all the time. Why rat someone out like a douche?
