Why not get Brian Cox back for the Stryker role?
Because it's showing the lineage of Wolverine and the initial meeting with Stryker, who was younger at the time. Wolverine was born during the Civil War and seemingly doesn't age past what he is shown as.
Plus Brian Cox is old as dirt.

Wolverine is such an explicit extension of comic nerd fantasy from back in the days (70's and 80's) when comic reading and collecting was at its most shameful.
An ugly, short, hairy, dirty, stinky guy with hilariously horrible hair who kicks tons of ass and somehow bags all the chicks? He's basically an idealized Comic Book Guy minus 200 pounds.
I DEMAND A HIDEOUS MIDGET IN THIS FILM.

The original Weapon X team consisted of:
Sabretooth
Wolverine
Silver Fox
Maverick (Agent Zero)
Russians attempted their own Weapon X program, and came up with Omega Red. The original team was disbanded after brawling with Omega Red. O.R. is the tits.
Further test subjects and subsequent Weapon X follow-ups included Deadpool and a few others. These people ended up becoming completely worthless, psychotic, disabled, or dead.
Apparently the Ultimate version of WEAPON X:
Ult. Juggernaut, Ult. Sabretooth, Ult. Wolverine, Ult. Rogue, Ult. Nightcrawler, and Ult. Beast. I don't follow that.
I see Ryan Reynolds face. In the comic he is competely disfigured due to an interaction with the Weapon X treatment and cancer he had. Guess they may can that for this movie just to make him pretty and maskless. :furious:

They originally had Dougray Scott (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0779084/) casted as Wolverine, but he ended up being injured on the set of Mission Impossible 2 and filming for that movie conflicting with X-Men's filming.

Just the whole hero on a team of killers but then has a change of heart thing. Now Elektra certainly wasn't the first movie to have this idea, but some of the images of showing the Weapon X team reminds me of similar images of the team of killers on Elektra (not sure they were called the Hand in that film).

I think it has the potential to be a good movie, because the Wolverine story is actually pretty good. If the story had focused mainly on his time at war, and his choices/reasons for becoming Wolverine I think it would be good. However, I think we're going to get a typical action movie where the good guy seeks out the bad guy and lots of shit blows up.

I was never a comic book guy, but really enjoyed the X-Men movies (especially the 1st one) just from the little bit of second hand knowledge I had about the characters. That trailer looked really good to me, but since I know even less of these characters I'll be interested to see how the whole thing comes off to the non-comic fan.

Gambit may not be the best character ever, but he is far from the worst. Cajuns are generally annoying - I will give you that - but his power is pretty cool.
That said, his costume is kind of ridiculous and I don't think Gambit has ever been written particularly well.

Wolverine loses his memory as part of the process that bonded Adamantium to his skeleton and turned him into Weapon X. Most of his interaction with Sabertooth occurred before Logan was experimented upon and became "Wolverine."

Hey everyone -
It's Hugh Jackman, sending this note from freezing Vancouver. I have read a lot of your online comments regarding the footage that we are currently shooting and I share your passion for the Wolverine character and the movie - I owe it all to you guys!
I wanted to reach out and let you know that due to scheduling conflicts with certain cast members and location/weather considerations, we had to wait until now to shoot a couple of scenes. Please rest assured that WOLVERINE will be badass and hopefully meet all of your expectations. I am stoked by the positive response to the teaser, which clearly reflects the tone and scope of the film. If you like that, we've got much more in store!
In the meantime, here's an exclusive shot of some characters you may recognize...

I noticed Wolverine cutting locks off of cages at the Weapon X facility, and Cyclops and White Queen being amongst the people that are "caged" up. I wonder if they were experimenting creating a mash-up hybrid mutant with various powers. Would make sense for the mutant Wolverine is fighting.

That and the mash-up had no mouth, and he had the "adamantium bonding process" markings on his body, as if he broke out right before being put down in the maching for bonding/memory erase. Seems like it may be the rumored Weapon XI specimen.

But I can watch my movies from my computer, through my 360 onto my hi-def TV. That's very sharp.

figured there'd be more discussion by now.
I hope the footage they re-shot was that last fight scene, deadpool was awful.
good for a comic film, i was never going to see it in theatres and might be tempted to catch it on hbo to see the changes.

Good thing I didn't download it.

The leak of this movie on the internet is going to kill it's box office numbers, even if the special effects aren't done.
It will still do massive numbers, plenty of people that cant or wont download it will go see it, namely kids under 15 so it will be a monster first week.

what if, the producers knew they had a shitty movie, so they leaked it....then when it inevitably bombs they can blame the fact that it was leaked as why it lost so much money and save their asses as far as the studio is concearned

Just watched the workprint. It's a typical Fox X-men movie. Lot of boring faux emotion in between the cameos that are meant to excite the comic fans. Even after seeing it, I still don't get why they did what they did to Deadpool. Ugh.

Maybe, but this thing part of a popular franchise with a very popular character and fan boys are annoyingly uncritical with these movies. My prediction is this will still be number 1 at the box office the week it comes out

35% rotten tomato review, and this brilliant blurb from roger ebert:
I have been powerfully impressed by film versions of Batman, Spider-Man, Superman, Iron Man and the Iron Giant. I wouldn't even walk across the street to meet Wolverine.

Theater was mobbed.
The movie itself was enjoyable but, nothing "special".
BLADE is still my fave comic book movie.

I really like Blade, but it's only technically a comic book movie in that there was once a black guy who killed vampires in some Marvel Comics back in the day. I just consider it a good action flick.

I really didn't think it was any worse than atrocities like the third Spider-Man or X-Men. Apparently the fanboys are bitching hard about Deadpool, but as someone almost entirely ignorant of the character I liked both what Reynolds did in the beginning and thought the last fight was pretty cool. They can also use the whole line about him not being finished to get rid of the extra powers when the Deadpool movie comes out.

Meh.
Liev Schreiber was totally wasted here. His devotion to the production where he got totally shredded to look the part was misguided energy since the hack screenplay didn't give him anyting to do.
On paper it probably sounded like a good idea to turn the reins over to an indie director who could infuse the substance into the series that part 3 lacked but the plan totally backfired - since he didn't have any good material to work with on a script level the film then couldn't be reliant on action spectacle because of his inexperience with productions of such technical scope.

Yeah, true, quality movie but hardly based on a comic at all.

the theatrical version of the film has no extra scenes that were not included in the leaked workprint. The only differences between the two are the completed special effects and musical score.
they lied about added scenes

Im not a big Wolverine fanboy but Deadpool was what annoyed me the most. The comic book character was very much like how Ryan Reynolds played him in the beginning, but the end character was just stupid. In the books he did wind up with some of Wolverines healing ability but the sword arms and Cyclops eye blasts was just a little too much creative license for me.
Another thing, in the comics hes known as "The Merc with the mouth" and at his peak, thats the one thing they didnt give him. Made no sense.

I will say this:
Ryan's acting & delivery during the first half of the film was distractingly similar to his acting & delivery as HANNIBAL KING in the third BLADE movie. I know that almost nobody saw that piece of shit movie but, for the few of us that did... it was distracting.
Same meter, same cadence, same delivery. So much so, that I'm actually kinda surprised that the producers allowed him to be cast in the role.

Does anyone have a link to the story that Silver Fox tells Logan about the moon. I'm trying to get the spirit name for Wolverine. It's pronounce "k coo watts sue" or something like that. I'm hoping for the exact spelling and story (if it really exists). Silver Fox is supposed to be a Blackfoot Indian. I've tried assorted google searches without any luck. Thanks.

Saw it today, it sucked. And I went in with an open mind, but almost every scene and the progression of each scene to the next seemed so ludicrously inconsistent and implausible, it really was a mess as a film and just not fun.

that's ryan reynold's thing. i noticed it, but i notice it in everything he does. doesn't matter, i'll still go see whatever he's in cause he's really nice to look at. . are they really making a deadpool movie? that could be interesting.
i didn't think it was that bad but thought that the way they came up with erasing wolverine's memory was a cop out. really gay. & now i'm annoyed with how he interacted with sabretooth in the first movie.
i love taylor kitch, but gambit is kind of dumb. i don't think the character was anything but annoying.
will.i.am surprised me with how little he annoyed me & i loved seeing a big fat kevin durand.

i'm not too up on the comics but i'm guessing deadpool is totally different than the mutant weapon XI at the end. it's kind of confusing though cause they make you think that's deadpool. no wonder he's so unrecognizable. so now i'm curious to see how this is gonna work out. i know alot of people are bothered by the swords coming out of his wrists like wolverine so maybe we won't have to worry so much about that.
