Hey here is something I've noticed that both Ron and Fez say that I've never heard before, so I wonder if its a regional dialect thing but I was under the impression they came from different parts of the country.
Anyway, the use of "anymore" (or perhaps "any more" i dunno)
it seems to me they use this instead of "nowadays" or something similar.

example: say they're talking about rap music. someone would say "The kids all listen to rap anymore"

does this sound weird to anyone else?
Have I been living in a hole?
does any of this really matter anyway?
cut me some slack its been a long weekend

I'm pretty sure there is an old thread about this, so yes, this does sound weird to somebody else out there, we can't say for sure if you're living in a hole or not, and no, it does not matter at all really, Ron & Fez is still the greatest show around.

The use of the word, 'Like' in sentences is far worse.

Whenever Laticia speaks on mic you will understand. The tone of her whinny voice coupled with her overuse of the word 'like' is just awful and I can't stand it anymore.

Whats your problem with Leticia? She's one of the best RnF interns to ever be on the show.

I may have been the one who started that thread awhile back.
It bothered me too, but the general consensus here was that it was ok, even grammatically.
But I agree it just sounds wrong.

Correct: I dont pick my nose anymore.

Incorrect: Everyone picks their nose anymore.

I guess anymore is supposed to be used in conjunction with a negative?

But again, its been discussed, and the crowd says its ok, so its ok anymore.

People are using "anymore" all the time anymore.

Yeah.... I think there was a thread aboot this a long time ago.

Or, maybe I'm thinking of the "who all" thread.

Drives me nuts.

I'm kind of glad someone brought this up. It never bothered me, but I did notice it.

What's worse than any of R & F's verbal crutches is Earl's "Yes and I understand that"... drives me F-ing nuts.:furious:

of course it does. if he started using "elephant" in that spot it would make no sense. some people felt the same way about "anymore" and asked if it was ok and were answered that, yes, it was.

I hear that all the time too, especially when someone calls in, and they say some sort of number...then all of a sudden "Who ALL"

'Businesses need to start consolidating debt anymore' said one of my offices new Philly native salesmen in a meeting a few weeks ago. Most people looked puzzled there too. Has to be a Philly thing.

The first couple of times i heard it; i was kind of "huh?"

Next few times; "oh, its an R+F thing" ( even crap like Rome pulled me in with this routine).

Hearing Ron use it recently (today?); imo-obvious radio 101 schtick.

" Crabs in a pot " indeed.

Down here in the south - we have a few words that people use that drive me fuckin bananas:

many replace the word "it" with "hit". Example- Where is the moonshine? I'll go find hit and we will have a drink. This drives me nuts!
also people say Walmarts instead of Walmart, waspers instead of wasps, and they use the brand name of a string cutting device for the lawn "weed eater" as a verb - i was weed eating when I got stung by a wasper and now i need medicine so I'll go to Walmarts and find hit.

Damn Hillbillies!

My grandpa always used to call the refrigerator the Icebox and the couch/sofa a divan.

/some of these may be common in other places as well, but it is just interesting to hear different dialects.

Of more concern should be the rampant use of the "whatnot".

Another phrase to look out for while playing board games is, "Who go is it?"

Now when I hear people use anymore correctly I cringe.

Ha. As often as I poke fun at people for saying WalMarts and K-Marts, its never occured to me that Krogers is wrong. So is it Sears or Sear?

This whole thing amazes me. When this topic first came up, it took me a while to figure out what the issue was. It sounds perfectly normal to me. I've heard it my whole life and assumed I've used it myself.

Today, I'm talking to my wife about it. She's never heard "anymore" used like that, and has never heard me say it.

I guess I heard from the PA side of my family (who she's never met).
