Today I was doing what I always do on a rainy saturday, thinking about Growing Pains. Do you think Kirk Cameron would have been a big hollywood star if that pesky Jesus guy didn't intervene. I mean he was young and talented and then right at the peak of his career the Messiah had to go and take over. Sure he seems happy now but can Heaven be any better than money, Oscar nominations and most importantly

Well I hope your happy Kirk cause thats what your missing out on. So do you agree with me? Are there any other people that let this meddler named Jesus ruin their careers?

Jesus have a sense of humor on this one ,ok. :innocent:

Really? I thought he fit in nicely with the legion of sitcom stars that ultimately end up being very limited in their acting range.

He married his hot co-star Chelsea Noble and they're still together. So I guess he ultimately did alright.

I would have totally not minded Kirk if it wasn't for the fact that he pretty much ended Julie McCullough's career. Considering that Christianity is based on forgiveness, what he did to her was inexcusable.

What did he do?

Julie was a Playboy Playmate who was trying to make it as an actress. For the time, this was a pretty big deal because she WASN'T acting in B-movie skin flicks, she was trying to be legit.

She got a role on Growing Pains, and then Cameron flipped out because she had posed in Playboy and wanted her fired. She took a lot of shit in the press because of it, and her career never recovered.

From Wiki:

McCullough found work in a number of television and film projects, including Max Headroom, The Golden Girls, Superboy and the 1988 horror movie remake The Blob, before landing the role of nanny "Julie Costello" on Growing Pains in 1989.

McCullough appeared in eight episodes until she was fired in 1990. Series star Kirk Cameron had converted to Christianity. Immature in the faith, he alienated himself from his co-stars. He also called for McCullough's termination because of his objections to her involvement with "Playboy." A decade later, Cameron apologized to his TV family and attributed his prior behavior to his lack of maturity. ("The Rebirth of Kirk Cameron" - Christianity Today)

Unfortunately, he has yet to reconcile with McCullough, who remains critical of him, stating that she lost a lot from the public criticism she endured from the controversy. Although McCullough herself is Catholic, she has criticized the evangelical television programming Cameron has produced

To me, if Cameron wants to be a crazy-ass Bible thumper, good for him. Have at it. But he's also made himself into a proponent for "intelligent design" -- i.e creationism. And, to me, that's where he crosses the line. If you think that some sky wizard made the world 6,000 years ago, fine. What the hell. But if you want to utterly fuck up science education in this country, when it's becoming more and more vital that kids do get a good science education, you've gone too far.

The human mind is easily duped. Kirk is a glaring example of that.

There is a video of him and another supernut preaching the glory of the banana, the perfect food which could only be made by god. Needless to say, it's an almost too good to be true example of ignorance and brainwashing. You'll see in the comments and other videos on youtube about this, that the banana we know today is not the original banana that is found in nature. Ironically, their praising man's creation, which is also what god is.
