It's that time of year where we worship our respective deities, eat alot, and exchange presents.

We'd like to give the boys gifts, and whenever it gets mentioned, people ask how they can contribute, so if you want to, we are accepting donations.

If you would like to donate to the gifts via paypal, send your money to info@ronfez.net. Please include your board name in the message so we know who you are, since we don't necessarily know everyone's real names in association with board name.

If you would like to donate by check, please PM/IM/e-mail me for my mailing info and to let me know how much you will be donating, so we can keep track of how much we will have to spend on them this year.

If you would like to donate by cash, you can brave the postal system and follow the instructions for paying by check.

If you wish to slide large envelopes full of money under the table, let me know which Italian restaurant to meet you at.

If you would like to help decide the gifts, you may contact me via e-mail/PM/IM as well or catch me in the chat room in the evenings and share your ideas. Please note that members of the Ron and Fez radio program do read the board, so do not post your ideas in the thread. And please don't tell me your ideas are cigars, oreos or other gifts that are obvious, since we figure other people will cover them. All ideas will be taken into consideration, but actual gifts will be decided on multiple factors, including but not limited to coolness factor and finances raised.

Thank you to all who contribute financially or gift ideas.

And yes, I know what was said on the show, but we like to do something nice for our buddays every year, and we need to start collecting now so we know how much we have to spend and have time to purchase the gifts.

Great, another opportunity for Mikeyboy to steal my ideas.

:furious:

If Ron gets the vintage Evel Kneivel lunch box filled with Japanese porn that I'm looking for there will be hell to pay.

We did very well last year. People were extremely generous and everybody seemed to appreciate their gifts.

We got Ron an authentic poster from the Band's "Last Waltz" concert from Wolfgang's Vault (http://www.wolfgangsvault.com/CatalogDetail.aspx?ItemNumber=WIN761125&ProductTypeID=PO&CategoryID=&Pos=56&Total=79&KeySetID=febe4134-3892-4d7c-8b17-0f996e38a422). (They no longer have any in stock that aren't fire damaged, so we were lucky to get a pristine copy last year).

We got Fez a high end Buccaneers watch.

We got Dave a Nintendo DS Lite.

We got Earl a series of coffee table books on Annie Liebowitz, the Yankees and Rolling Stones covers.

We got Pitzy and Bronx Johnny a basket o' booze.

I should have gotten more pictures of the people from the show with their gifts, but I kind of dropped the ball, but here's Ron with his:

http://www.ronfez.net/gallery//watermark.php?file=2370&size=1

It may feel a little early to start thinking about Christmas, but we wanted to give people notice if they want to contribute now. Especially since we'll be taking the gifts in prior to Christmas, and will need a little lead time to know what to get based on how much we have to spend.

Ideas are welcome, but, as Jon said, please don't post them in this thread because we don't want to spoil the surprise. We encourage you to send PMs to Jon and/or me with your suggestions. Thanks.

Just give what your wallet will allow. Remember, it is going into a fund. If 200 members gave 10 bucks each... Pretty sweet. If you've got more, fine. If you've got less, also fine.
This is just our way of giving a little bit back to the boys who give us so much on a daily basis.

Giving what I know, heres an idea from an old has been...but no hanger on

I think its a great idea to raise the $ for a gift for Ron and Fez. I also think it would be a great idea to make some children's Christmas very special this year. Girls who lost their Daddy in a senseless robbery. They say time heals all wounds and it does to a point. I speak from my own heart there, so it may be entirely different for each person. In case you may be unaware of what I am speaking of,it is the daughters of our friend Jimmy Plocica. Who is unfortunately, for no reason at all is no longer with us.

There is one thing that time, distance or even nice gifts can't change. The First ones. Of course right now I am speaking of Christmas, and yes it has been some time now, but the first Christmas, without someone you love is not ever going to compare to any others. I say Christmas, it can be any occasion, or even just a Tuesday. I am really kind of generalizing as I really do not know how young or old the girls are. In addition, it is also his wife's first also. Yes, she's not a child and again, I do not know their situation, but it doesn't change the fact the the father of your children will not be there, and knowing what , even without saying, knowing what your children are feeling and going through. How? Because you are doing the same most likely.

Nothing I could think of for Ron and Fez, who appreciate the thought and efforts that gets put into their gifts IMO, would come close to this unselfish act of charitable humility. That to me is the gift of the spirit, the true feeling and magic of Christmas. It is magic. No other time, especially here in NY , starting on Christmas Eve and through Christmas, will people, OK strangers, ever be so warm, nice and thoughtful of each other. No fights if you step on a foot or bump someone accidentally. It's so strange, you get a sorry, Merry Christmas, a smile and off you go, that is truly magical. To me it is all about knowing you did your best for those you care about and made it a little special. It is a season of love, giving and caring.

I, personally, can think of no better gift, than one of caring for your fellow man.

Is there anything to compare to the wonderful feeling it would bring almost to anyone, and I think Ron and Fez would agree (IMO). Just having the feeling that the first Christmas with no Dad might be a little nicer, if the small part we may play helps out and we have the chance to give ourselves a gift in return. The gift you feel in your heart. The gift of love, charity and above all, the chance to make someone else happy.

The gifts can be given in the Ron and Fez' name or even Anonymous. I really wish I knew how old the girls were. I have in my mind young girls, and I may be wrong and they can be much older. It doesn't change a thing, just puts a little perspective on some of the ideas I presented.

The gift we may get in return is priceless and worth more than anything you will find under your tree or wherever.

Christmas is about family. Although some of us, have no family or do and don't see them or care to. I can remember from day 1, this board has always been a kind of family. Dysfunctional, no doubt, but thats family.

I intended on a sentence or 2, but kind of got carried away. I would like to leave you with this, I found on a page and saved it. At the time I didn't know why...now I do. Just a reminder that don't waste time or keep putting off quality time with your family. There are no do-overs. Especially if you have young children, or old parents. You may not get that second chance to tell someone you love them,or you are sorry or how grateful you are for having them in your life. One day, something horrible may happen or you may just suddenly realize what you missed out on. Love your family now why you are healthy and still have the chance too, because in a split second, everything can change forever, and all the money, power and beautiful possessions you've acquired are worthless.

Please consider my idea and consider the message in this story. (I will put the link at the end)

A little boy greets his father as he returns from work with a question: “Daddy, how much do you make an hour?” The father is surprised and says: “Look, son, not even your mother knows. Don’t bother me now, I’m tired.” “But Daddy, just tell me please! How much do you make an hour?” the boy insists. The father finally gives up and replies: “Twenty dollars.” “OK, Daddy,” the boy continues, “Could you loan me ten dollars?” The father yells at him: “So that was the reason you asked how much I earn, right? Now, go to sleep and don’t bother me anymore!” At night the father thinks over what he said and starts feeling guilty. Maybe his son needed to buy something. Finally, he goes to his son's room. “Are you asleep, son?” asks the father. “No, Daddy. Why?” replies the boy. “Here's the money you asked for earlier,” the father said. “Thanks, Daddy!” replies the boy and receives the money. The he reaches under his pillow and brings out some more money. “Now I have enough! Now I have twenty dollars!” says the boy to his father, “Daddy, could you sell me one hour of your time?” Today’s gospel has a message for this man and for all of us, and the message is that we need to invest more of our time in our family life.

God Bless and may you all get that gift you feel inside this year and love and appreciate your family while you can.

Billy

God Bless us all, everyone

We have something huge planned for a fund raiser, but we pushed it back to January because we didn't think it would be good to do during the holidays due to everyone's schedules. We are still accepting donations for the fund for his daughters.

I read your post, Bill and was moved by it. This year for us it is going to be a "smaller" Christmas as well for our kids, but I'm hoping it will be for the better. I know I had a Christmas or two when I was a kid that I didn't get much, but I don't remember. Why? Because my parents loved me very much and the spirit of Christmas was always there.

Ever since I got out of the Army, my Christmas wish is always the same: one day of PEACE for our soldiers, marines, sailors and airmen all over the country and the world who keep watch over us. It is the sergeant waiting by the phone at Fort Riley Kansas in case of an emergency, the sonar operator onboard the USS Alabama keeping the bad guys away, the F-16 pilot patrolling the skies in Afghanistan listening for soldiers on the ground asking for help out of a jam. I want ONE DAY that none of them have to answer the call, ONE DAY that they can be by themselves to be able to think about who they care for, and not have to worry about the violence that is war.

And for all of you doctors and nurses that are going to be in the emergency rooms and the EMT drivers and firefighters on duty this Christmas: Thank You for being there. And everyone else who has to do a job on Christmas Day, I will be thinking of all of you and I hope and pray you stay safe and have an easy day.

And for all my friends here on ronfez.net, thanks for being who you are. I finally got to hear live the traditional closing of the Ron and Fez show, and I gotta tell you, I never felt closer to people I have never seen in person before. The show and this board really took hold of me this year, and because I am on the road a lot, I don't get a chance to go out and be with people like I used to. And when I am home, I spend the time with my kids, so again I am limited in my social skills. You guys are the best.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!

It was bought from a reputable company. But admittedly it was an autograph company and not a comic book one. I'm aware that Bob Kane used a studio system to produce Batman comics and just signed his name to it. Regardless, it is a nice sketch in the Bob Kane style, if Kane himself didn't draw it.

Cool, good to know. If it came from the Bob Kane camp, then great. It wouldn't be hard to reproduce that type of thing, but assuming it's legit if it's from a legit company. Great work, you guys always get them the best stuff.
