do you become more funny the more you listen to things/more you learn.
I.E. If I was to just watch good comedians all the time, would I then become funnier, or is it more of a by product of my upbringing and interests?

I don't think so,we're all(IMO) products of our environment.Your tastes might improve however, you wouldn't necessarily become funnier, that's a very(IMO) subjective area.one man's meat is another man's poison it's a treasure/trash,ceiling/floor kind of mentality.BTW whatever made you come up with this? I doubt as this will become an epic thread as there's not much opportunity for gayness or beastiality.

Would you become a good writer if you read all the time? You might be able to emulate them, copy their style, you might be able to quote people, incorproate their point of view, maybe even put their theories into your own words. You might become a "better" writer technically, and people who don't know your source material might even think you're clever or smart, but IMO being a good writer is something inherent that you can't learn.

Same with comedy (which is arguably more subjective). You can steal jokes, steal bits, steal lines, steal readings. People might find you funnier, if they don't know where you're coming from. But you wouldn't necessarily be funnier. And you'd be a hack.

It depends on what you get out of listening. First, you have to have ideas that are funny. The rest is delivery and timing. I'd say that listening to comedians has helped make me funnier more consistently because I became aware of what I was doing wrong.

So, you can learn some skills from other artists, but you still need to be inspired and have some amount of talent.

i dont know where i got the idea, i think it just kind of hit me. and i understand it wont make it to a bigtime thread, but it is what it is...

i dont know how this relates to ur question, but i realized that all the talk radio shows i listen to (O&A and R&F), i have alot more things to talk about. Talking to people that don't listen to the show, i can just drudge up conversations they've had on the show, and use it myself. Ahhh, that conversation about the biggest animal u can kick to death really helped me out of many a-jams

The only thing that can prevent anyone from being more funny is
having the names Lleeder or MarC.

It's science.

i think you do become more funny just because you learn the "rules" to comedy and how to act and deliver a line better

on the flip side if ur just stealing material then no... ur just a dick that needs another hobby

I believe you do become funnier in the sense that if you are quick to begin with you now have more lines in your memory to spit out in different situations. It may not be your own humor but the people around you don't know that.
