The first season probably is the best, with the second season close behind. The CW fucked with the set-up too much in the third season so it wasn't as good.

I just realized that I have no idea what kind of show this is. I don't know if it's a Sitcom, a Highschool Drama, a Sci-Fi show. I'm pretty sure it's not an animated show.

Technically, it's a drama. It's about a high school girl, whose father was Sheriff of a rich California town, until the murder of the girl's best friend. The father went after the dead girl's rich father as killer and was drummed out of office.

The father becomes a PI and the girl helps as she has natural detective abilities. Every week of the first season, she would solve crimes, all the while trying to solve the murder of her friend.

The stories were well-written, the dialogue was smart and witty, and it got great critical reviews. I think it even made Entertainment Weekly's Top Ten TV shows of the year it's first year.

when it first aired on UPN, I thought nothing of it. Didn't really hear much about it. but, I rented the first season off of neflix. And it was awesome. The writing is awesome and clever. The first season is kinda like Twin Peaks where the season has a central story of solving a murder but with other stuff going on. Granted, Kristen Bell is a cutey, but she's got some sass. I tell some of my friends that it's a really good show and they have this preconceived notice that it's about this high school chick that solves the case of the Cheerleader's missing clit ring. I'd encourage someone to watch at least an episode or the pilot, if they hate it, that's cool. if not, whatev.
