I wish it was a story of somebody shooting someone with a hairbrush. That's be awesome.
Actually, it turns out this video has become big news. It's the first tazer death caught on tape. Proud day for me and my country.

Yeah he died in that video, and no it's not the real victor from the terminal. It's his airport violence prone cousin who needs goat medicine.

he didnt club him with a nightstick.
he slams it on the ground to close it (its an expanding baton, called an asp, and it takes force to close it.)
Should the AIRPORT OFFICIALS have tried harder to get this guy an interpreter? Perhaps. But once the cops were called, their job was to restrain him to prevent him from causing any more damage and/or alarm. In my opinion. They did their job, with unfortunate consequences. Frustrated or not, this guy's actions were responsible for his ultimate demise.

OK, now I get it, because otherwise it looks like he's basically stabbing the guy in his head with the baton.

I'd assume the cop he was refering to was you. I also assume the part he was refering to was when you wrote:
"Should the AIRPORT OFFICIALS have tried harder to get this guy an interpreter? Perhaps. If a man died by the administration of excessive force.... they weren't doing their job.
He had just moved from Poland with his mother, he understood no english, didn't understand why he was being held and freaked out. Instead of finding an interpretor they stunned him.
It was a piss poor job done by the RCMP and the POLICE OFFICERS, not AIRPORT SECURITY (I know, same thing...witty), will now be held accountable for their stupidity.
But hey, lets say it was unfortunate and he did it to himself by being upset... that way we'll always have some unecessary story to banter back and forth on.
It wasn't a good move by the RCMP, initially the officers were backed.... as the investigation moves forth it looks as though they are in shit.

and exactly where did I say that it was WORTH his life?
This guy doesnt get to call me a "fucking cop" without explaining himself.
In reply to your post Ramgots, had they just continued to let him destroy property, inflict injury on himself or the cops themselves, we'd be saying they didnt do anything and should be fired. They restrained an individual who was out of control. They didnt say, "the only way to deal with this is to kill him". The only way to deal with this was to restrain him and unfortunately he died. Yes, people will be held accountable, but just because someone dies in police custody doesnt automatically mean the cops were wrong, given what they had to deal with.
I'm getting kind of sick of the automatic hate for cops around here; like when someone above said, words to the effect of "that one cop hit him in the head with the nightstick", he later understood that he was not doing that...but the auto perception of cops are bad led him to believe automatically that the cops were evil here. Cops have a hard job, and sometimes things dont turn out all hunky dory. But hey, what do I know? I'm just a fucking cop in this thread.

You didn't say it was worth his life, the way you stated it though, it's understandable that someone interpreted it that way.
He does and did because that is what many people do on message boards, they say shit they'd never say in an actual conversation. It's unfortunate people work that way, but there's nothing you or I can do about it.
True enough
It doesn't mean they are automatically wrong, but it doesn't require defense either. To say someone is innocent before the facts are out there is just as bad as saying they are guilty. The only difference is that when you label someone guilty, they could suffer for the long haul. When you come out and cry innocence, it is that individual that looks bad.
As you should be, it is a personal issue for you and to see the verbal attacks at police officers understandably upsets you. Same would be for any profession, if it's your chosen profession you don't want to hear it bad mouthed. Unfortunately, no matter how it seems, these 'stereotypes' were developed over a long period of time due to various 'happenings' that involved police officers. It takes a lifetime to undo the damage caused in a moment.
Yes they do... yes you are.

Wow.. I dig the color coding matching topic to reply. Youre getting good in your old age brother! I'm not as disciplined as you, so allow me to just start rambling and let you figure out what the hell I'm talking about.
Thankyou for your understanding of my plight, especially on this board, especially lately... but thats neither here nor there...
I'll agree that blatantly assuming someone innocent is the same as assuming them guilty. But you and I both realize this thing is getting investigated to hell by many and varied parties, and someone will eventually pay for the death of this man. My point is that the cops had to react, or be blamed for not reacting; and based on what I know about Police Depts around the world, it would be safe to say they followed procedure in this instance. We have a policy of isolate and contain that may have allowed more time to get an interpreter or family member in to help sort things out... but a crazy man is a crazy man sometimes, and if these cops made the decision that there was no time to wait, then that was the decision. Sometimes if you let an emotionally disturbed person stew, they calm down and become rational...but more often than not, they take the time to figure out how to get more crazy... or see it as a sign of weakness on the cops sie and think they can somehow win. Sometimes it really is just best to get the guy cuffed, and then sort out the details. Unfortunately...and I'm sorry if my saying unfortunately sounds like some kind of defense for these cops... but yes unfortunately, a death occurred before they could do so.
Do we see the cops high fiving eachother? No. Do we see them dancing over his dead body? No. I'd bet my life that these cops cant sleep at night because of what happened here, and the way theyre being talked about in the media and HERE.
You make a point that people have pre-conceptions about police based on the historical actions of other police over time... Thats prejudice, yes? And The lowly police officer seems to be the only minority out there these days that people can still say shit about without fear of retaliation.
I'm still waiting for the poster to reply and explain himself. I never said this man's death was worth it because he destroyed a computer. This is just an example of how people have no problem jumping on cops without even trying to understand what the hell was done, said, or in this case, written.
