It just is disappointing everytime I here it; maybe because it signifies the end of the show. Why not throw a cowbell at ESD for a closer? Or have a different one every week? Am I alone on this one?

On the contrary, I'm absolutely serious. Maybe my whole "issue" with the Homestar thing is it signifies the end of the show, meaning that I have to get back to work for the rest of the day. It's like, once you hear that stupid armless cartoon say that, it's completely over. Maybe if they mixed it up some more, it wouldn't be so depressing.

That depends on what kind of alarm you wake up to. Since I live in a post 1980 world, I have a clock radio, which does in fact play something different (read: the radio) every morning that I wake up. I used to wake up to that annoying as fuck beeping, and I did start to hate it.

I can empathize - I have lost my zest for "Satellite of Love" since it marks the end of the show. Homestar doesn't really bug me, but I have never really been a fan of Lou Reed anyway. Mix that with the end of the show and it gets a little depressing.
