Uh... too late to change forums at this bandwidth so feel free to make all the jokes you want in this thread - about me anyway.
11th sobriety Birthday today. Was a good one. Woke up in the bed of a friend with benefits. She was at work already so I puttered around her place drinking coffee and watching Scrubs. Wandered back to my place and grabbed my laptop, fed the devil, kicked it when it settled into it's Wiskas, (don't blame me, I was just settling the family business from the ball-claw the day before), and went to the tourist hangout nearby to enjoy more coffee and a nice breakfast, read the paper and get to work on my story about my buddy who's kickboxing next month. Got the piece up to about 2200 words. Puttered about on the internet. Met a nice English girl and chatted for an hour or so. Had some nice enchiladas at a Cambodian Italian restaurant. Jumped a moto to the gym with a photographer buddy who got some real nice shots for the article. Met a French kickboxer girl and kinda hit it off with her. Got some good notes. Grabbed some ice cream and The Hustler from my apartment and took it back to the place I woke up and had a nice movie night with a few friends. Now I'm headed home to kick the kitten again, (for destroying the second half of my expensive headphones), and fall asleep to the four new comedy CDs I picked up yesterday at a bootleg mp3 shop for 75 cents a pop.
It's still good to be sober. Last year I wrote a couple thousand words on the miracle of sobriety, partially because it was the big 10 years, but mainly because I was in Egypt alone. Best thing about today was that I've got real friends here, and good ones. And a really kickable cat. If you guys want to chip in and get me something you can get me some goal posts for the new apartment.
How are the rest of you drunks doing?

What the hell do you need Hustler for when you have a friend with benefits?
Happy Anniversary dude. Glad you're having fun as a world traveller. I'm working on getting over to your neck of the woods.
In tribute to your anniversary, I'll stay sober for the rest of the day at work!

Congratulations Budday!
I wish you all the best - it's a tough road, but you have the right attitude and zest for life (and I am basing most of this on last years post - where I think I said something similar).
Where are you now? Unfortunately, I have lost track of your trek.

Congrats, Yerdaddy.
My brother's bachelor party was this past weekend. Suffice it to say, I was far from sober.

This January it will have been 2 years since I got drunk. I still drink a beer or two on occasion, but since I had a baby I don't drink like I used to and really don't miss it. Glad you're doing so well!!

 Big ups Budday! It's a rollercoaster the first year or so but it gets easier and easier and the benefits, like beautiful women offering their butts up as a urinal, just keep on coming. Keep it simple, stupid. It works if you work it. One day at a time. All those slogans are nuggets of genius that will save your life when you need them. Keep it up.

And you said you are in Egypt? What happened to the Asian broads? The Thai hookers go on strike?

i am really glad that you have been sober for so long, i know it can take a lot out of a person, and many fall off - but you stayed. i know when my mom finally got sober it took so much out of her, but she did it, and she has become 8 years sober.
congrats, man, congrats!
